    Abstract: Described is a system and method for recovering authentication of a mobile unit in a network. The method includes performing an attempt to authenticate a mobile unit based on a first profile; determining, if the attempt is unsuccessful, a number of attempts to authenticate based on the first profile including the attempt; performing, if the number of attempts is less than or equal to a predefined number, a further attempt to authenticate the mobile device based on the first profile; performing, if the number of attempts is greater than the predefined number, a profile roam to a second profile; and performing an additional attempt to authenticate the mobile unit based on the second profile.
