    Abstract: A method and apparatus for use in a security system for controlling access to mobile enclosures and cargo containers. Navigtational tracking systems such as LORAN and Global Positioning Systems are used to produce a real time geographic position signal. A programmable data processor is used to compare a preset geographic position signal to the real time geographic position signal. Upon favorable comparison of the real time and preset signals, an enabling signal is produced which permits operation of the security system to gain access to the container.

    Abstract: A batch type process for purification of a polymer resin, in which a predetermined volume of acid is rapidly emptied and stirred into a fixed volume of polymer slurry for chemically treating impurities in the slurry, is converted to a continuous operation by supplying a substantially constant stream of polymer slurry and a controlled stream of acid to a mixing vessel. pH control of the polymer slurry required for effective purification of the polymer resin is achieved by manipulating the flow rate of the acid stream responsive to a feedforward control signal which operates in conjunction with a feedback signal. The feedforward signal is based on an upstream measurement of slurry flow rate to the mixing vessel and the feedback signal is based on a downstream pH measurement of slurry flowing from the mixing vessel.

    Abstract: A self-contained theft and vandalism deterrent system for equipment security includes sensors (12) for detecting conditions to which an alarm (24, 26, 28, 50) is responsive. The analog signals from the sensors (12) are serially delivered by a multiplexer circuit (16) when they are then directed to a network (20) for conversion to digital signals. The digital signals are delivered to a micro processor (22) where the signals are evaluated to determine if an alarm condition exists. The sensing means (12) include sound and vibration detectors for monitoring the ambient envelope. The micro processor (22) includes built in reprogramming and comparator circuits for varying the level at which a given condition will trigger an alarm response.

    Abstract: A rotary broom attachment for a motor grader, which has a mold board and structure to adjust the mold board for vertical elevation, side shift and rotary position about vertical and horizontal axes, is mounted behind and parallel to the mold board and has independent adjustment and control structure for positioning, and side shifting, if desired, of the broom relative to the mold board. Sensors are used to signal automatic shifting of the broom vertically or in side shift to avoid interference with the motor grader structure as well as obstacles in the path of the broom. The downward pressure of the broom is controlled by the proportional lift applied thereto by a hydraulic lift mechanism.

    Abstract: A control system for a road grader adapted to maintain the working edge of the grader blade in a preset datum plane so as to establish a uniform graded condition of the surface worked by the blade, regardless of the inclination assumed by the motor grader or the relative angular position of the blade itself. The system includes grade sensor means mounted adjacent one end of the blade to follow a pre-selected grade datum, slope sensing means mounted in fixed relation with the blade for keeping the blade at a predetermined slope with rotation sensing means mounted on the blade supporting ring or circle to detect the relative angular position of the blade. The rotation sensing means provides a correction signal for maintaining the slope angle of the blade at a value which will keep the "cross slope" of the surface established at a predetermined value regardless of the rotary position of the blade relative to the direction of travel.
