Abstract: A computer-implemented method includes receiving a first URL address corresponding to a first web page, accessing content and serving the first web page based on the first URL address, receiving specification of a second URL address corresponding to a second web page, changing from the first web page to the second web page based on the received specification of the second URL address, motivating an automatic change in television channel from a first television channel to a second television channel based upon a change from the first web page to the second web page, and displaying the second television channel.

Abstract: A network arrangement for the delivery and presentation of multimedia applications includes one or more file servers, containing multimedia assets and program objects connected to the network. A user terminal connected to the network includes a display for displaying a plurality of timelines. The terminal also includes a graphical user interface for placing icons representing multimedia assets on one timeline and icons representing program objects on another timeline. The terminal has a processor which integrates multimedia objects from the multimedia assets associated with the first timeline with the program objects associated with the second timeline to produce an interactive multimedia application. A user input device cooperates with the user terminal to retrieve from the file server(s) and to playback or execute one or more objects at a relative time presented on the interactive multimedia application.

Abstract: An apparatus for authoring multi-media assets into a final interactive multi-media application includes a storage device which stores one or more multi-media assets and one or more program objects. A display is provided for displaying a plurality of timelines. A graphical user interface allows the user to place icons representing one or more multi-media assets on a first of the timelines and icons representing one or more program objects on a second of the timelines. A processor integrates multi-media objects from the multi-media assets associated with the first timeline with the program objects associated with the second timeline to produce an interactive multi-media application. The processor also controls the playback or execution of the objects associated with the first and second timelines in a time sequence indicated by their position on a timeline.
