A method for classifying a tympanic membrane includes steps of: receiving, from an interrogation system, one or more datasets relating to the tympanic membrane; determining a set of parameters from the one or more datasets, wherein at least one parameter of the set of parameters is related to a dynamic property or a static position of the tympanic membrane; and outputting a classification of the tympanic membrane based on a classifier model derived from the set of parameters.     Abstract: An ultrasound signal processor uses an excitation generator to cause displacement of a tympanic membrane while a series of ultrasound pulses are applied to the tympanic membrane. Phase differences between a transmitted signal and received signal are examined to determine the movement of the tympanic membrane in response to the applied excitation. An examination of the phase response of the tympanic membrane provides a determination as to whether the fluid type behind the tympanic membrane is one of: no fluid, serum fluid, or purulent fluid.

    Abstract: A system and method for examining a patient for an ear disorder. Reflectance ultrasound is applied to a portion of the ear to determine the presence of ear effusion in a middle ear. If ear effusion is present, motion of the tympanic membrane is induced and ultrasound is further applied to the moving tympanic membrane. Echo signals resulting from the ultrasound applied to the moving tympanic membrane are analyzed to obtain information regarding the motion of the tympanic membrane and is used to characterize the ear effusion.

    Abstract: A bag filling and sealing machine includes a bag holder, a bag opening and filling station, and a sealing station. The bag holder holds wicketed bags in a manner that allows the bags to be easily torn from the holder. A funnel assembly successively opens each bag, tears the bag from the bag holder, fills the bag with material, and releases the bag to a grabber assembly. The grabber assembly engages the sides of the bag while the bag is attached to a funnel assembly and later pulls the sides of the bag away from each other so that the top of the bag is closed and ready to seal when the bag is delivered to a sealing apparatus. The grabber assembly moves in a manner so as to minimize the lost height when moving from the filling station to the sealing station.

This allows the heat pipe to be easily removed. This also allows the inner housing to maintain RF isolation.

    Abstract: Electronic apparatus is contained in a heat dissipative external enclosure 2. The enclosure contains at least one unit contained in a thermally conductive internal housing 4,6 providing RF isolation and mounted on a wall 7 of the enclosure in thermal contact therewith. A wall 11 of the unit has a first recess 14 receiving the evaporator 13 of a heat pipe 12. The heat pipe is clamped between the external enclosure and the internal housing. The condenser 22 of the heat pipe is lower than the evaporator and is received by a recess 24 in the wall 7. The evaporator is clamped in the recess by a clamp member e.g. another unit 6.Because the heat pipe is clamped at its ends, it does not need to be an interference fit in either recess and may thus easily be removed. The inner housing can maintain RF isolation.
