A method for classifying a tympanic membrane includes steps of: receiving, from an interrogation system, one or more datasets relating to the tympanic membrane; determining a set of parameters from the one or more datasets, wherein at least one parameter of the set of parameters is related to a dynamic property or a static position of the tympanic membrane; and outputting a classification of the tympanic membrane based on a classifier model derived from the set of parameters. The classification comprises one or more of a state, a condition, or a mobility metric of the tympanic membrane.

    Abstract: A system and method for examining a patient for an ear disorder. Reflectance ultrasound is applied to a portion of the ear to determine the presence of ear effusion in a middle ear. If ear effusion is present, motion of the tympanic membrane is induced and ultrasound is further applied to the moving tympanic membrane. Echo signals resulting from the ultrasound applied to the moving tympanic membrane are analyzed to obtain information regarding the motion of the tympanic membrane and is used to characterize the ear effusion.

    Abstract: A bag filling and sealing machine includes a bag holder, a bag opening and filling station, and a sealing station. The bag holder holds wicketed bags in a manner that allows the bags to be easily torn from the holder. A funnel assembly successively opens each bag, tears the bag from the bag holder, fills the bag with material, and releases the bag to a grabber assembly. The grabber assembly engages the sides of the bag while the bag is attached to a funnel assembly and later pulls the sides of the bag away from each other so that the top of the bag is closed and ready to seal when the bag is delivered to a sealing apparatus. The grabber assembly moves in a manner so as to minimize the lost height when moving from the filling station to the sealing station.

    Abstract: A utility holding device attachable to a vertical surface for carrying elongated objects such as rifles, bows, fishing rods and the like. The device can be attached to a vertical surface such as a wall or a window, and is specifically intended to be used on the interior surface of a vehicle such as a truck or boat. The device includes a base unit which is permanently attached either by adhesive or screws to the vertical surface. The base unit includes the female portion of an attachment member. The device further includes a mounting stem which includes the male portion of the attachment member and which also includes either a large holding unit integrally formed therewith or adjustably attachable thereto. The female and male portions of the attachment member being interlockable to rigidly attach the stem and base unit. The holding unit may also include a hold-down member which can encircle an item such as a rifle to prevent its removal therefrom.
