  • Patent number: 10773327
Abstract: A system and method for limiting welding output and ancillary features is provided. In one embodiment, a portable generator system includes a power generator configured to generate electrical power appropriate for welding or plasma cutting. The generator system also includes power conversion circuitry coupled to the power generator and configured to receive power from the power generator and to provide output power. The generator system includes at least operator accessible input for receiving an operator input parameter. The generator system also includes an output power limiting device not adjustable by the operator and configured to selectively limit output power from the power conversion circuitry.

  • Patent number: 10144083
Abstract: An engine driven welder includes a generator configured to provide an electrical output, an engine coupled to the generator, an air compression system coupled to the engine, a first welding system coupled to the generator, and a second welding system. The engine is configured to drive the generator, and the air compression system is configured to provide a pneumatic output. The first welding system is configured to provide a first weld output, and the second welding system is configured to provide a second weld output. The second weld output is independent of the first weld output in an independent mode, and the second weld output is combined with the first weld output as a combined weld output in a parallel mode.

  • Patent number: 9089918
Abstract: A grounding system is provided for welding applications. The system comprises a pair of contacts that are brought into close grounding contact with a workpiece, and a measurement circuit coupled to the contacts. The contacts may be urged into intimate contact with the workpiece by a biasing structure that pulls the contacts tightly against the workpiece. The measurement circuit may include a center-tap transformer having a secondary coupled to a ground lead and to the contacts. A primary winding of the transformer is coupled to an oscillator that executes a measurement test. The system may provide an indication of the quality of the ground in the form of an operator perceptible notification, a digitized value, or any other suitable form.

  • Publication number: 20140299595
Abstract: A system includes an induction heating assembly having an induction heating element. The system also includes a power supply configured to provide a current to the induction heating element for heating a workpiece. In addition, the system includes a temperature probe configured to provide a signal indicative of a temperature of the workpiece to the power supply. The induction heating assembly is configured to maintain the temperature probe in contact with the workpiece.
