  • Patent number: 5600539
Abstract: A drawer slide which is capable of moving in and out of the housing of a computer or other electronic apparatus is configured to receive an interface card which is connected into the circuitry of the computer when the drawer slide is in a fully inserted position. The drawer slide rides in a drawer guide which is secured to the computer structure. An interface connector is mounted on the drawer guide and engages a connector on the interface card for connecting the interface card to the remainder of the computer circuitry. A key lock mechanism prevents unauthorized movement of the drawer slide and the associated interface card out of the computer housing.

  • Patent number: 5153589
Abstract: A data processing terminal is provided with a keyboard which can be removed to provide access to the interior of the terminal for maintenance and repair of electrical components contained therein. Removal of the keyboard causes the operating circuit for the terminal to be interrupted, thereby eliminating danger of shock to someone working in the interior of the terminal. Assembly of the keyboard to the remainder of the terminal is accomplished largely by means of molded engaging and latching elements, thereby minimizing the effort required for assembly and disassembly.

  • Patent number: 4857712
Abstract: An integrated slip guide member and slip table assembly for use with business machines. The slip table has a first and second groups of parallel grooves thereon which are spaced apart in parallel relationship. The slip guide member has first and second members which receive the a portion of the slip table to enable the guide member to be moveable on the slip table to accommodate different widths of documents. The slip guide member also has detent members thereon to mesh with the first and second groups of parallel grooves to adjustably secure the slip guide member on the slip table.

  • Patent number: 4841412
Abstract: An electronic terminal device is fabricated so as to be quickly and easily assembled and disassembled by use of housing parts and internal parts having snap-type fasteners. Separate fasteners such as screws are not needed. Special tools are not required for assembly and disassembly of the device. Performance of repair and maintenance functions by purchasers of the equipment is thus facilitated.

  • Patent number: 4816619
Abstract: Passive strain relief apparatus provides relief of strain on cable connections to electrical components within an electrical device such as a point of sale terminal, which strain is caused by tension on cables extending from said device. The strain relief apparatus includes a flexible strain relief element which is located within said device and is positioned adjacent to an opening in said device through which the cables extend. The cables are pinched by recesses in the strain relief element in which they are positioned. Tension on the cables causes said strain relief element to flex, thereby relieving the tension.

  • Patent number: 4803346
Abstract: A business machine assembly such as a cash register includes a plurality of hook members secured to the lower surface of the cash register positioned within corresponding slots in a support member. A cash drawer is slidably mounted within the support member between a open and closed position. The cash register further includes a pair of depending stop members secured to the lower surface of the cash register and positioned adjacent the rear edge of the cash drawer when the cash drawer is in a closed position blocking movement of the cash register on the support member thereby preventing the hook members from being disengaged from the slots when the cash drawer is in a closed position.

  • Patent number: 4796007
Abstract: A keyboard assembly is disclosed comprising a waterproof portion which includes a sheet of printed key tips mounted on a cover support member overlying an indicia sheet identifying the key tips, first and second switch-matrix electrical conductors separated by an insulator sheet mounted on printed circuit board, a plurality of light-emitting diodes mounted in the printed circuit board for selectively lighting one of the key tips when operated, a plurality of I.C. circuit elements secured to the lower surface of the printed circuit board and connected to the electrical conductors forming an electrical circuit associated with the operation of the keyboard and a key operated switching mechanism extending through the keyboard to sense light emitted from elements mounted in the lower surface of the printed circuit board for controlling the operating mode of the keyboard.

  • Patent number: 4698707
Abstract: A protective cover for electronical equipment such as a magnetic disk read-record unit includes a hinged cover element having sealing surfaces disposed on the edges thereof to prevent pollutants from being drawn into the electronic equipment, and also includes an actuator on the exterior of the cover which extends therethrough and cooperates with a mating element on the housing of the electronic equipment when said cover element is closed, to effect latching of the cover element in place and operation of the electronic equipment when said actuator is operated.

  • Patent number: 4682325
Abstract: A system is disclosed for selectively serially coupling a plurality of stations in a communications network into a single communications path. In the system of the invention, a plurality of tap boxes are serially coupled into the single communications path. Each station is coupled to a desired associated one of the tap boxes by way of an associated tap cable. When the tap cable is connected to a first portion of the tap box, a first impedance corresponding to the characteristic impedance of the single communications path is serially coupled into the single communications path to enable the station associated with the tap cable to be coupled to the single communications path by way of the first impedance. When the tap cable is connected to a second portion of the tap box, the first impedance is effectively removed from the single communications path and a test impedance is coupled to the tap cable to enable the station associated with the tap cable to test itself.

  • Patent number: 4066850
Abstract: A printed circuit keyboard assembly is disclosed comprising a waterproof jacket portion which includes a cover member overlying a sheet of raised key-tip portions, the jacket portion being releasably mounted to a position adjacent the waterproof switch matrix portion. Depression of a key-tip portion will result in the deflection of the switch matrix portion thereby generating binary coded signals representing the key-tip portion depressed. The cover member secured to the jacket portion is constructed to expose a predetermined number of key-tip portions for operation. Means are provided to releasably secure the jacket portion to a position adjacent the matrix portion to allow the interchanging of jacket portions each having different numbers of key-tip portions available for depression to meet changing business conditions.
