  • Patent number: 4405171
Abstract: A stabilizing device is described for bracing an ambulance attendant in proper position for administering cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) while the ambulance is in transit. The device is roof mounted and includes two pivoted arms that may be selectively moved from horizontal storage positions, adjacent the ambulance roof to substantially vertical downward operative positions. Shoulder pads are slidably mounted to the arms. The attendant may lean against the pads to secure himself in proper position for administration of CPR. The pads are slidable on the arms to allow free vertical motion of the attendant's shoulders and to automatically adjust for shoulder height.
