Patent number: 11105689Abstract: Embodiments described herein include a data acquisition unit having a plurality of ports that are each configured to receive a signal from a respective temperature sensor of a device under test. Each of the temperature sensors is associated with a location with respect to the device under test. The data acquisition unit also includes a processor configured to determine a temperature corresponding to each temperature sensor, based on the signal received from the respective temperature sensor. The processor can then generate a thermal gradient for the device under test based on the temperature and the location of each of the temperature sensors. This thermal gradient can then be output for further analysis. Additional embodiments may be described and/or claimed herein.Type: GrantFiled: December 21, 2017Date of Patent: August 31, 2021Assignee: Keithley Instruments, LLCInventor: George J. Polly

Patent number: 11061077Abstract: A test and measurement instrument for performing multiple operations, including a port to receive a signal from a device under test; and a processor. The processor configured to, based on a parallel trigger model, execute a first process associated with first functionality of the test and measurement instrument, and execute a second process on the signal from the device under test, the second process associated with second functionality of the test and measurement instrument. The second process commencing prior to completion of the first process.Type: GrantFiled: December 29, 2017Date of Patent: July 13, 2021Assignee: Keithley Instruments, LLCInventors: Brian P. Frackelton, George J. Polly

Patent number: 10627988Abstract: An electronic device for running an application can include a display to visually present a user interface corresponding to the application. The electronic device can also include a processor to determine whether the application is an originally-installed application and cause the display to include a visually identifiable feature in the user interface indicating that the application is not an originally-installed application responsive to a determination that the application is not an originally-installed application.Type: GrantFiled: December 30, 2016Date of Patent: April 21, 2020Assignee: Keithley Instruments, LLCInventors: George J. Polly, Brian P. Frackelton

Patent number: 10462541Abstract: The determination and rendering of scan groups for channels configured to acquire data from test and measurement devices in a data acquisition system is disclosed. Based on the particular scan configuration for the data acquisition system, scan groups may be determined for channels in a scan list based on the channel settings, such as measurement type, for example. The data acquisition system renders a graphical scan summary of the channels in the scan list according to their determined scan groups on a display, allowing a user to quickly review the scan configuration.Type: GrantFiled: March 24, 2017Date of Patent: October 29, 2019Assignee: Keithley Instruments, LLCInventors: Brian P. Frackelton, George J. Polly, Lawrence J. Kizlik

Patent number: 10401390Abstract: A method in an electronic device that may include determining, with a processor, a quantity of group markers in a data set, and determining, with the processor and based on the quantity of group markers, a suggested view from a plurality of available views, each view in the plurality of available views diagrammatically depicting at least a portion of the data set. Also, a processor-implemented method of navigating between portions of a data set may include displaying, on a touchscreen display, a diagrammatical depiction of a first portion of the data set; detecting a continuous arc gesture at the touchscreen display; determining a direction of the arc gesture; selecting a second portion of the data set based on the determined direction of the arc gesture; and displaying a diagrammatical depiction of the second portion of the data set.Type: GrantFiled: April 30, 2015Date of Patent: September 3, 2019Assignee: Keithley Instruments, LLCInventors: Brian P. Frackelton, George J. Polly

Patent number: 10373474Abstract: A data acquisition system, including an input configured to receive a signal on a port and a processor. The processor determines, during an initial scan, a first measurement value of the signal on the port, sets at least one alarm value based on the first measurement value, the at least one alarm value being within a predetermined amount of the first measurement value, receives, during a subsequent scan, a second measurement value of the signal on the port, and generates an alert when the second measurement value violates the at least one alarm value.Type: GrantFiled: September 20, 2017Date of Patent: August 6, 2019Assignee: Keithley Instruments, LLCInventors: Brian P. Frackelton, George J. Polly
