  • Publication number: 20160036543
Abstract: A receiving unit or a transmitting unit of a wireless network, for facilitating noise and interference measurements on an air interface. The receiving unit includes: a network interface which obtains information relating to a time-varying layout of a silent resource element (RE) grid; an electronic memory having code in communication with the network interface which stores the information; and a processing unit in communication with the electronic memory that takes a presence of a silent RE grid into account in the reception of a control or a data channel. A method for a receiving/transmitting unit of a wireless network, for facilitating noise and interference measurements on an air interface is described. Information relating to a time-varying layout of a silent resource element (RE) grid is obtained and a presence of a silent RE grid is taken into account in the reception of a control or a data channel.

  • Patent number: 9236991
Abstract: A method in a user equipment device for estimating a channel upon receiving an enhanced control channel (eCCH) from a network node in a telecommunications system includes distributing the eCCH over multiple resource pairs, where each of the multiple resource block pairs includes a number of resources. Each of the resources is associated with a respective antenna port. The user equipment device identifies an antenna port that is associated with multiple ones of the resources. The multiple ones of the resources are present in different resource block pairs of the multiple resource block pairs over which the eCCH is distributed. Identifying the antenna port is based on how the eCCH is mapped to the multiple resource block pairs. The user equipment device estimates the downlink channel for the eCCH based on the identified antenna port in the multiple ones of the resources in the multiple resource block pairs.

  • Patent number: 9237565
Abstract: Methods for wirelessly transmitting user data and control information using a plurality of transmission layers include encoding bits of control information to form control codewords and encoding bits of user data to form user data codewords. The method also includes generating a plurality of vector symbols based on the control codewords and the user data codewords. Each vector symbol includes a plurality of modulation symbols that are each associated with a transmission layer over which the associated modulation symbol will be transmitted. Generating the plurality of vector symbols includes interleaving bits of the control codewords and bits of the user data codewords so that the control information is carried in modulation symbols associated with the same transmission layers in the vector symbols transmitted during the subframe that carry the control information. The method also includes transmitting the plurality of vector symbols to a receiver over a plurality of transmission layers.

  • Publication number: 20150358134
Abstract: For data transmission in a wireless communication network, a radio channel divided into subframes in the time domain is used. A network system (100) assigns resource elements in a first subframe (20) and at least one subsequent subframe (21, 22) to a user equipment (200). By downlink control information transmitted in the first subframe (20), the network system (100) sends a multi-subframe assignment (503) to the user equipment (200). The multi-subframe assignment (503) indicates the assigned resource elements to the user equipment (200). In at least a part of the assigned resource elements in the first subframe (20) and at least a part of the assigned resource elements in the at least one subsequent subframe (21, 22), the network system (100) transmits precoded reference symbols (504, 06, 508) to the user equipment (200).

  • Publication number: 20150350853
Abstract: Systems and methods are disclosed for using multiple configuration groups having corresponding configuration identity (CID) parameters to configure a transmission channel and a reception channel for a user equipment device in a cellular communication network. In one embodiment, a user equipment device in a cellular communication network obtains CID values for CID parameters for a number of configuration groups. Each of the configuration groups includes one or more transmission channel or reception channel parameters. For each of the configuration groups, the user equipment device configures the parameters in the configuration group based on the CID value obtained for the CID parameter for the configuration group. In this manner, the transmission channel and the reception channel for the user equipment device are configured based on multiple CID values rather than a single physical layer cell identifier for a cell in which the user equipment device is located.

  • Patent number: 9143987
Abstract: According to one aspect of this disclosure, the configuration of which Interference Measurement Resources, “IMRs”, a given user equipment, “UE”, should measure for Channel State Information, “CSI”, reporting is made more or less invariant to dynamic traffic variations affecting the set of Coordinated Multi-Point, “CoMP”, transmission points used for serving the UE, or to the use of dynamic blanking for those transmission points. These goals are achieved at least in part by configuring one or more of the transmission points to follow a first rule embodying a negative logic. According to the first rule, the transmission point transmits on a given IMR if it has been deemed as being not likely to transmit data at a time relevant to the IMR, and, conversely, to not transmit the IMR if it has been deemed as being likely to transmit data at a time relevant to the IMR.

  • Publication number: 20150263801
Abstract: A method for assisting the adaptation of a signal from a first node to a second node is provided. The first node communicates with the second node in a wireless communication system over a radio link. The second node has a codebook comprising a set of possible information alternatives for assisting the adaptation of a signal received from the first node. The second node may select an information alternative from the codebook and send it to the first node to assist the first node in adapting the signal. The first node is configured with a number of subsets, each comprising a part of the possible information alternatives. The first node requests that the second node restrict the selection of information alternatives to one of the subsets, and in response, receives an information alternative from the second node that is selected from among the subsets configured according to the configuration request.
