  • Patent number: 4961743
Abstract: A torsion spring with a coil portion having extensions extending from the ends of the coil for receiving forces for torquing the spring. The spring provides a more balanced stress distribution about the coil which in the preferred embodiment include a region of increased cross-sectional area on one side of the coil and a region of decreased cross-sectional area across the coil from the region of increased cross-sectional area and smooth contouring of the coil between these two regions. A particular use of the torsion spring of the present invention is in a torsion spring-type aneurysm clip for providing more uniform stress distributions about the coil portion of the aneurysm clip and for permitting the aneursym clip to open wider so that it may be used on larger aneurysms.

  • Patent number: 4827930
Abstract: A device for closing jaws of an aneurysm clip. The device includes a central spring portion. Body members are mounted on the central spring portion to be urged toward a closed position by the central spring portion. Heads carried by the body members are pivotally mounted on jaw members which engage the jaws of the aneurysm clip to urge the jaws to closed position. The body members are spaced to receive the aneurysm therebetween. The jaw members can move along the jaws to selected position, and a main portion of the device can be swung about pivots on the jaw members to selected angular position.

  • Patent number: 4796625
Abstract: A one-piece aneurysm clip having an elongated flat ribbon body. The body includes a central helical portion joining first connecting portions, second connecting portions extending from the first connecting portions transversely of the first connecting portions and blade portions extending from the second connecting portions. Spring action of the helical portion urges the blade portions to substantially flatwise engaged position. A guide bar and stop member is mounted on one of the second connecting portions and has a guide bar position which overlies an opposed other of the second connecting portions to hold the blade portions in alignment. A stop portion of the guide bar and stop member is engageable by the other of the second connecting portions to limit opening of the clip.

  • Patent number: 4777939
Abstract: A retractor which includes a body portion and a side arm portion extending transversely of the body portion. A first hook member is mounted on the body portion and a second hook member is mounted for movement on the body portion between a contracted position adjacent the first hook member and an extended position. The hook members have oppositely directed pivot point portions which engage opposed faces of adjacent vertebrae. The retractor pivots about the pivot point portions.

  • Patent number: 4777950
Abstract: A one-piece vascular clip which includes a central helical spring section, first connecting sections joined by the spring section, second connecting sections extending from the first connecting sections to cross. First jaw sections extend from the second connecting sections. A return bend jaw section extends from each of the first jaw sections parallel and adjacent to the associated first jaw section. A horn extends outwardly from each of the return bend jaw sections.

  • Patent number: 4681107
Abstract: A holder for an aneurysm clip. A clip holding tool can be drawn into a tubular clip opening fitting. The clip holding tool has arms engageable with the aneurysm clip to hold the aneurysm clip. Portions of the arms are engageable with the interior of the clip opening fitting to cause the arms of the clip holding tool to close to clip holding position when the clip holding tool is drawn into the tubular clip opening fitting. A mouth defining surface of the clip opening fitting engages the aneurysm clip for causing opening of the aneurysm clip as the clip holding tool is advanced along the clip opening fitting.

  • Patent number: 4660558
Abstract: An aneurysm clip which includes an elongated main section providing a central spring portion, jaw forming end portions, and connecting portions between the central spring portion and the jaw forming portions. Jaw addition sections are mounted on opposite sides of the jaw end portions. The connecting portions cross each other and each jaw end portion is opposed to and urged toward one of the jaw addition sections. A guide end portion of one of the jaw addition sections extends from an associated jaw and is engageable by a connecting portion associated with the other jaw to hold the jaws in alignment.

  • Patent number: 4658822
Abstract: An aneurysm clip which includes an elongated main section providing a central spring portion, jaw forming portions, and connecting portions between the central spring portion and the jaw forming portions. Return bent jaw addition sections are provided on opposite sides of the jaw forming portions of the main section. The connecting portions cross each other and each jaw forming portion of the main section is opposed to and urged toward one of the return bent jaw addition sections.

  • Patent number: 4340061
Abstract: An aneurysm clip that includes a pair of elongated blades which are urged into gripping relation with an aneurysm on a blood vessel. The blades have smooth edges for positioning adjacent to the blood vessel when the blades grip the aneurysm. Teeth on edges of the blades spaced from the smooth edges thereof engage and grip the aneurysm spaced from the blood vessel.

  • Patent number: 4018412
Abstract: An operating table bracket which includes a body having a face which overlies an upper edge of a support bar of the operating table and a locking member mounted for swinging movement and for up and down movement with relation to the body and for engaging an underside of the support bar. A cam operates the locking member. The locking member is mounted on a pivot which is slidable up and down with respect to the body. Initial operation of the cam swings the locking member from a released position to a bracket retaining position in which the locking member loosely engages the support bar but the bracket can be slid along the support bar. Further advance of the cam causes the locking member to rise against the underside of the support bar to lock the bracket on the support bar. An instrument holding means on the body includes a yoke member which is rotatably mounted on the body for swinging about a transverse axis and an instrument support releasably attached to the yoke member.
