The network portal allows a user, using the single user account, to access any corresponding members of a set of elements and any corresponding development projects. A second request is received to access a first element within the set of elements via the network portal and using a namespace.

Abstract: A method, system, and computer usable program product for detecting and sharing road traffic condition information are provided in the illustrative embodiments. A system receives a set of image inputs from a set of cameras that are stationary relative to a road and monitoring road traffic. The system combines the image inputs forming a view. The system determines whether an alarm condition exists in the view. If an alarm condition exists, the system maps the alarm condition on the view using a characteristic of the alarm condition, thus forming a part of a condition information. The system transmits the part of the condition information, such that the part of the condition information can be received by a motorist. The system may also receive a set of sensor inputs from a set of sensors and may combine the set of sensor inputs with the set of image inputs to form the view.

Abstract: The illustrative embodiments described herein provide a computer-implemented method, apparatus, and computer usable program code for managing a plurality of development projects. A network portal receives a first request to be accessed using a single user account. The network portal defines a namespace. The namespace comprises a system for specifying a set of elements associated with the plurality of development projects. Corresponding members of the set of elements are associated with corresponding development projects within the plurality of development projects. The network portal allows a user, using the single user account, to access any of the corresponding members of the set of elements and any of the corresponding development projects. A second request is received to access a first element within the set of elements via the network portal and using the namespace. The first element is retrieved.

Abstract: A multi-host data processing network and associated method are disclosed. The network includes a local host, a remote host, and a terminal including a display, a keyboard, and a pointing device. A display server associated with a user of the terminal is present on the local host. The display server enables the user to execute GUI applications on local and remote hosts from the terminal via a display server authorization mechanism. The network is configured to enable the user to execute a command entered at the terminal on the remote host using the display server as an intermediary. In one embodiment, the local host includes a client application and the remote host includes a daemon process, wherein the client application is enabled to receive the command from the user and the daemon process is configured to retrieve and execute the command.

Abstract: A method, system, and computer program product for dynamically adjusting the encryption level based on the geographic location of a software program are disclosed. The method includes an initial step of determining a geographic location associated with the software program. An encryption level is selected based upon the determined geographic location. The software program is then executed utilizing the selected encryption level. In one embodiment, determining the geographic location is achieved by determining the geographic location of a computer system on which the software program will be executed, preferably through the use of a Global Positioning System. The Global Positioning System may comprise an I/O device of the computer system on which the software executes. In one embodiment, the selected encryption level may be overridden by a Smart Card or other secure device connected to the computer system. In one embodiment, the available encryption levels include, at a minimum, a U.S.

Abstract: A system and method for monitoring the software configuration of a computer system. As a preliminary step in an error recovery procedure initiated in response to detecting a system error condition, it is determined whether one or more configuration files on the system are in an unauthorized state. If so, one embodiment of the invention contemplates suspending the error recovery procedure until the configuration file has been restored to an authorized. In one embodiment, the determination of whether a configuration file is in an unauthorized state is facilitated by associating a configuration file fingerprint with the configuration file where the fingerprint is indicative of the contents of the configuration file. In this embodiment, the contents of the configuration file can be verified against the fingerprint to determine if any unwarranted or unauthorized modifications have been made to the configuration since the fingerprint was generated.

Abstract: A caller identification callback list method and system. The system displays a callback list informing a user of a missed call received from a terminal on a central office telephone line from within an organization. The callback list includes the names and extension or branch telephone numbers for persons the user has defined exist within the organization. Once an indication that the user has missed a telephone call from within the organization appears on the user's terminal, the user may choose from a list of names and extension or branch telephone numbers and return the call without having to search outside sources for the correct number. The return call may be accomplished by either an automatic callback feature or manually using the terminal. Additionally, the caller identification callback lists allow a user to select the people and associated extension or branch telephone numbers in advance without the prospective caller first calling the user.

Abstract: A method and system for remotely controlling an appliance including a first wireless communication port is disclosed. In one aspect, the method and system provide a portable digital device for remotely controlling an appliance. The portable digital device includes a processor, a second wireless communication port coupled with the processor, and a control program for use by the processor. Upon a query provided from the second wireless communication port to the first wireless communication port, an interface residing on the appliance is provided from the appliance to the portable digital device. This allows the control program to control the appliance using the interface. In another aspect, the method and system include providing the interface residing on the appliance. The interface is capable of being uploaded to a portable digital device including a processor, a control program, and a second wireless communication port.

Abstract: A wireless network and an associated communication device are disclosed. The communication device is typically mounted in a first vehicle and includes a location device, such as a global positioning system receiver, suitable for determining the first vehicle's geographic position, a wireless transceiver enabled to communicate with a wireless transceiver of a second vehicle within a wireless range of the first vehicle, and a processor connected to the wireless transceiver and the location device. The processor is able to use the wireless transceiver and the location device to broadcast travel information of the first vehicle and to identify the presence of the second vehicle. The processor may also be enabled to display the position of the second vehicle on a display screen of the communication device or to enable the first vehicle to communicate with the second vehicle.

Abstract: A system and method for automatically adjusting priority assigned to execution of applications, tasks, or workspaces. A display of visual indicators is provided, corresponding to a differing task. By selecting an indicator, priority given to task execution is altered as the task is moved into a focused state as a result of such selection. A window manager between a server and application registers in the server adjusted state of a particular application as either in focus or cleared. An application, through its corresponding window-id, detects from the server that an adjustment in priority is desired. A mapping function such as a lookup table maps the window id to a corresponding process-id which is then utilized by the application in a process table. The information from the window manager passed through the display server is utilized by the application to adjust its own priority relative to the remaining applications in the operating system's process table. Abstract: A method and system for rendering in a printable medium hyper-link information contained in a document displayed within a graphical user interface within a data processing system linked to other data processing systems in a data processing network. A document constructed from data generated at a data processing network server is selected and displayed within a graphical user interface. Thereafter, in response to the selection of the document, if the document includes hyper-link information, a reference object is generated. Next, the reference object is associated with the hyper-link information. Thereafter, in response to a user input, the document is automatically printed in a printable medium, in association with the reference object, such that the hyper-link information is automatically presented in association with the printed document.

Abstract: A system and method are provided for automatically adjusting priority assigned to execution of applications, tasks, or workspaces to thereby improve performance relative to other such applications, tasks or workspaces in a computerized multitasking graphical user interface environment. A display of a plurality of visual indicators is provided, each of which corresponds to a differing task. By selection of one of the indicators, the priority given to execution of the task is altered as the task is thereby moved into a focused state as a result of such selection. A window manager interposed between a server and application registers in the server the adjusted state of a particular application as being either set in focus or cleared. An application may detect from the server a window-id corresponding to the application for which an adjustment in priority is desired.
