  • Patent number: 4550141
Abstract: Blends of (a) 80-93 weight percent of an ethylene/acid ionomer, and (b) 7-20 weight percent of a propylene/.alpha.-olefin copolymer are used to prepare peelable seals having nearly constant and predictable peel strength over an extended heat seal temperature range. Some of the seals so produced also show stress whitening.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: August 22, 1983
Date of Patent: October 29, 1985
Assignee: E. I. Du Pont de Nemours and Company
    Inventor: George L. Hoh

    Inventor: George L. Hoh
  • Patent number: 4469754
Abstract: Heat seal compositions and articles including the compositions are disclosed. The compositions exhibit a broad temperature range for making heat seals of variable strengths and are useful as the sole heat seal composition in making flexible packages requiring both permanent and peelable seals.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: May 14, 1982
Date of Patent: September 4, 1984
Assignee: E. I. Du Pont de Nemours and Company
Inventors: George L. Hoh, Donald A. Vassallo

  • Patent number: 4275181
Abstract: Curable blends of chloroprene polymers are obtained by modification with ethylene/carbon monoxide or sulfur dioxide copolymers containing an additional softening copolymerizable comonomer such as vinyl esters, alkyl acrylates and methacrylates, alkyl vinyl ether, acrylonitrile, methacrylonitrile etc. Modification with the ethylene copolymers results in improved processing, increased resistance to ozone and reduced cost.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: November 30, 1979
Date of Patent: June 23, 1981
Assignee: E. I. Du Pont de Nemours and Company
    Inventor: George L. Hoh
  • Patent number: 4172939
Abstract: A vulcanizable composition comprising an ethylene/vinyl acetate/carbon monoxide terpolymer, said terpolymer containing about 5-30%, by weight, carbon monoxide, and having dispersed therein a vulcanizing agent of elemental sulfur or a compound that releases sulfur at vulcanization temperatures. The cured elastomer is useful for making hose, belts, wire coverings and other elastomeric articles in a conventional manner.
