  • Patent number: 5485230
Abstract: A system and method are described for determining a subject's perceived motion ability utilizing chromatic pathways. The equiluminant point between two selected colors is determined and two similar moving patterns are then provided, one equiluminant and the other luminant, the moving patterns consisting of only the two selected colors. The velocity of one pattern is held fixed while the velocity of the other pattern is matched to the fixed velocity by the subject. The difference between the matched velocity and the fixed velocity provides a measurement of the subject's perceived motion ability along the chosen chromatic pathways as compared to a standard. The comparison shows how to enhance motion perception ability by modifying the spectrum of the light impinging the subject's eyes in accordance with the comparison findings.
