  • Patent number: 11772987
Abstract: A multi-functional slurry processing system (“VARCOR”) and associated methods is disclosed. The present examples provide a multi-functional slurry processing system incorporating systems and methods for separating liquid and solid components in slurries. In particular the systems and methods described herein produce clean water, dried solids, and potential concentration of desirable constituents with a boiling point lower than water. At least one example of the multi-functional slurry processing system provides a self-contained processing facility configured to efficiently convert high water-content slurries into its constituent solid and liquid fractions and subsequently generating and collecting clean water and concentrating desirable constituents with a boiling point lower than water.

  • Publication number: 20220237894
Abstract: System and related methods for applying machine learning to the classification of surface materials using images of spots of lights, such as resulting from a laser beam impinging the surface. A classifier trained using such spot images, resulting from light beams imping the surface, achieves excellent classification results, in spite of a lack of fine surface details in these images as compared to a more uniformly lit larger scene that would appear to contain more information on the surface type. Classifiers can achieve classification accuracies on biological tissues significantly above 90% using a number of well-known classifier architectures. The classification results can be used to generate a map of classified surface types and the combination of such with a three-dimensional model of a surface having classified surface portions reconstructed from a pattern of spots projected onto the surface.

  • Patent number: 8078314
Abstract: Systems and methods that allow for orienting and delivering mail between a postage verifier and a mail sorter. A postage verifier includes an optical character reader for decoding addresses on mail pieces that do not have bar codes. A reverter orients mail from the postage verifier into a position required for processing by the mail sorter. A combination of mail carrying modules carry the mail from the reverter to the mail sorter. The mail sorter prints bar code information on mail lacking bar codes, when the data is available, and sorts the mail based on the bar code information.
    Type: Grant

  • Publication number: 20060291691
Abstract: A system and method for lifting an enhanced image of a delivery item using a first low-resolution color scanner to lift a first image of the delivery item, analyzing the first image with a processor to determine a color of the delivery item, using the color information to adjust the spectrum of an illuminating device, lifting a second image of the delivery item illuminated with the adjusted spectrum, and lifting a second image of the delivery item using a high-resolution grayscale scanner, the second image having enhanced contrast.
