  • Patent number: 6338522
Abstract: A vehicle top system comprising a soft top composed of a mesh material to thereby block out a portion of sunlight but allow the passage of a portion of air therethrough. The soft top may include a top section to cover at least the driver and front passenger portion of a vehicle (such as a JEEP® brand vehicle). The top section may have a front edge and side edges. The soft top may include laterally spaced apart side sections each having a vertical edge and a horizontal edge; and a rear section to cover the rear portion of a vehicle and having an edge. A tubular seam extends around at least the horizontal edge of each of the side sections and the rear section edge; at least one tube may be positioned within said tubular seam. The at least one tube may be secured to a vehicle. A plurality of fasteners may be affixed to the at least one tube. A reinforcing belt and an extrusion member may be secured along the top section front edge for attachment to a vehicle windshield flange.

  • Patent number: 5337452
Abstract: Panels (10, 12, 16, 20) are joined on several hinge axes (14-22, 18-24), and may fold around either axis. A spherical ball (26) fits within a ball receiving socket (28) in the corner of each panel. • Patent number: 5020790
Abstract: An orthosis for powering the walking movement of a paralyzed wearer, comprises torso members to be firmly connected to the opposite sides of the wearer's torso. A pair of leg braces is connected to the torso members. Each leg brace comprises a thigh member pivotally mounted at a hip joint to one torso member on one side of the wearer. A shank member connected to the shank and foot of the wearer, is pivotally mounted at a knee joint to each thigh member. A four link drive mechanism which is powered by a rechargeable power unit mounted on the torso member, swings the thigh member forwardly and rearwardly about the hip joint. A knee lock keeps the knee joint locked during the rearward movement of the thigh member and during a portion of the forward movement of the thigh member. At an appropriate point during the forward movement of the thigh member, a cam operated crank unlocks the knee joint and swings the shank member rearwardly to simulate a natural forward step.
