    Abstract: Septum for use in relatively high temperature gas chromatography including within the septum a cooling element, preferably a fluid carrying loop through which heat transfer medium may be circulated, to lower the temperature of the septum thus avoiding excessive bleed of volatile compounds into the carrier gas stream and protecting the septum from rapid thermal degradation.
