    Abstract: A method for automated construction of 3D images is disclosed, in which a range measurement device is to initiate and control the processing of 2D images in order to produce a 3D image. The range measurement device may be integrated with an image sensor, for example the range sensor from a digital camera, or may be a separate device. Data indicating the distance to a specific feature obtained from the range sensor may be used to control and automate the construction of the 3D image.
