  • Publication number: 20090094364
Abstract: A method and apparatus is provided for integrating an application into a network of computing resources. Applications using this integration have a virtualized access to one or more computing resources associated with the network. Virtualization is generally assured through at least one network connection between the virtual layer and the native network. Together, the virtual access is used to generate a virtual application network capable of providing the application access to the network of computing resources. The application is created into an orchestration of operations to manipulate the one or more computing resources according to a business process. As needed, the application and orchestration can be further partitioning into components to be distributed and executed over the virtual application network using the virtualized access.

  • Publication number: 20090005800
Abstract: An insertion device configured to provide access to a treatment site within a body cavity (e.g., an abdominal cavity) is provided herein. In general, the device includes any type of elongate sleeve (e.g., a trocar) having an inner lumen. Further, the device includes a tissue retraction mechanism configured to extend from a distal end of the sleeve wherein the tissue retraction mechanism is configured to securely engage a cavity wall such that in response to a retraction force the mechanism can pull the cavity wall over the distal end of the sleeve thereby positioning the sleeve across the cavity wall. Additionally, various embodiments of a method for providing access to a body cavity are also provided herein.

  • Publication number: 20080033629
Abstract: A real-time, dynamic method for creating a body of cycle-and-cylinder-specific noise-reduction baseline data useable in conjunction with analyzing the engine-knock behavior of a subject internal combustion engine involving operating the engine in an operating mode wherein engine knock may occur, and while doing so, and during each cycle of each cylinder, gathering cycle-and-cylinder-specific, knock-free, engine-operating, baseline noise data which is intended and dedicated for noise-reduction use solely with respect to analyzing any knock data found to exist in the same operating cycle.

  • Publication number: 20060102045
Abstract: A bridge plate for interconnecting two railcars and supporting the weight of a vehicle moving between the railcars. The bridge plate includes a substantially continuous top surface and is formed as a composite of a plurality of materials. The bridge plate includes a plurality of longitudinal sections extending from a bottom surface of the bridge plate, the sections formed by combining glass fibers and resin that enclose a foam plastic core, resulting in a lighter weight bridge plate than industry standard bridge plates. A traction surface can be integrally formed on the top surface. The bridge plate can include at least one handle. The assembly can also include a pin assembly for rotatingly engaging the bridge plate assembly to a railcar. The pin assembly can include a handle portion accessible from a top surface and/or the bottom surface of the bridge plate.

  • Publication number: 20050057649
Abstract: A surveillance system for monitoring a secure area having an entry door, the door being furnished with a lockset which normally keeps the door locked, and the lockset being responsive to an “authorization action” of a user to permit opening of the door. The “authorization action” may be punching a code into a keypad, presenting a coded card to a reader, operating the handle of the lockset, or other manipulations needed to open the locked door. A transmitter associated with the lockset issues a wireless signal each time the lockset responds to an authorization action of a user. A camera is arranged to take an image of the user at the door. A receiver receives the wireless signal from the transmitter and in response thereto triggers the camera to take an image of the user. The transmitter may be in circuit with a switch which is closed in response to movement of the door-unlatching mechanism, the switch completing a circuit for actuating the transmitter.

  • Patent number: 6769262
Abstract: A chilling sleeve is provided for insertion into a hollow cylinder, such as a control rod driving mechanism guide tube, for adjusting the temperature and therefore the diameter of the cylinder. The chilling sleeve has external inlet and outlet ports, regulated by a pump. The pump injects high pressure liquid coolant, such as liquid nitrogen into the inlet port and through channels in the body of the sleeve out to a high pressure chamber. The liquid coolant escapes the high pressure chamber via escapes holes and enters a low pressure chamber, bordered by the outer wall of the hollow cylinder. In the lower pressure chamber, the liquid coolant evaporates, which chills the adjacent outer wall of the hollow cylinder, thereby shrinking the outer wall so that the hollow cylinder can be fitted into or removed from a cylindrical hole, for example a closure head hole in a vessel head of a nuclear reactor.

  • Publication number: 20040000182
Abstract: A forming or re-rounding machine has a pair of concentric inner and outer rings supported with a gap between the rings. The support of the rings provides for both axial and rotational movement. A can or shell having a section to be formed, or a damaged portion for re-rounding, is inserted into the gap. Hydraulic rams are mounted in a radial pattern into the outer edge of the inner ring and the inner edge of the outer ring, facing the gap. The inner and outer rings can be oriented so that the hydraulic rams in each ring can be directly opposed to the hydraulic rams in the opposing ring, or alternatively, can be offset from adjacent hydraulic rams in the opposing ring. In a vertically oriented embodiment, the forming or re-rounding machine has a pair of concentric rings suspended from a crane or I-beam support with a gap between the rings.

  • Patent number: 6609404
Abstract: A forming or re-rounding machine has opposed inner and outer hydraulic ram sets each carried in a housing with rollers. The ram set housings are movably mounted onto an I-beam frame connected by hydraulic cylinders. The frame supports a can or shell for rotation of the surface to position a region for forming or reforming between the hydraulic ram sets. Each ram set has a hydraulic cylinder for advancing a re-forming tool on either the inside or outside of the can or shell to reform the selected region. The I-beam hydraulic cylinders are allowed to compress when the can or shell is positioned for forming or reforming and help prevent flexing of the can or shell outside the selected region.

Abstract: The present invention discloses an intravascular foreign object retrieval catheter having an elongated, flexible first outer containment catheter having a second basket catheter contained therein and having a third microcatheter contained therein and having a fourth snare wire contained therein having a loop on the end thereof. The containment catheter, the basket catheter and the microcatheter work together as coaxial tubes. The basket catheter is slidable within the containment catheter, the microcatheter is slidable within the basket catheter, and the wire is slidable within the microcatheter. The basket catheter has a containment basket on its distal end which is used to surround a foreign object whereupon the innermost wire having a loop on its end is then placed around the foreign object. Thereafter, the microcatheter is advanced along the innermost wire in order to tighten the loop around the foreign object.

  • Publication number: 20030023577
Abstract: An Object Request Broker (ORB) working in the Common Object Request Broker Architecture (CORBA) is structured to handle the registration of multiple and diverse communications protocols. The protocol engine of the ORB has it architecture modified so that it can accept a plug-in component which has a protocol connector and a protocol adapter portion for communication between client and server applications, respectively. The plug-in converts from the client/server applications to the General Inter-ORB Protocol used by the ORB. The plug-in will be fully operational if it has an interface to the rest of the ORB as required by the invention, including a protocol connection interface for the connector interface and Listener and Dispatcher interfaces for the server-adaptor interface.
