  • Patent number: 8681439
Abstract: Various embodiments of the present invention provide systems and methods for data processing. As an example, a data processing circuit is discussed that includes an inter-track interference determination circuit operable to calculate an inter-track interference from a previous track data set based at least in part on the previous track data set and a current track data set. • Patent number: 8631123
Abstract: When an operating system process evaluates a rule for an operation being attempted on a logical network port, the operating system process determines whether the target logical port falls within a range of logical ports, and then determines whether the operation is associated with a permitted domain of the range of logical ports. If the operation is a bind operation, then the process attempting to bind to the target port will be allowed to bind if the target port falls within the range and the operation/process is associated with a permitted domain. Otherwise, the binding operation will not be allowed to proceed.

  • Patent number: 8595821
Abstract: Domains can be used to secure resources of a cluster. An administrator can configure a node of a cluster as a member of a particular domain. Membership in a cluster can be restricted to nodes that are members of the particular domain. When a node generates a cluster message, a kernel process or operating system process of the node will indicate the domain(s) of the node in the cluster message. The cluster message can be a command message to read or write to a storage resource of the cluster. When the cluster storage resource node or node that controls the storage resource receives the command message, the node will examine the command message to ensure the message indicates a domain that aligns with the cluster. If the proper domain is indicated in the command message, then the command message is processed. Otherwise, the command message is denied.

  • Patent number: 8577855
Abstract: A lock is acquired on a data structure. Content in the data structure is read and verified while the lock is held. The lock is then released, and then the file system components that are referred to by the data structure are verified. In essence, a file system consistency check of the file system components is performed offline in the background while the data structure remains accessible.

  • Publication number: 20130223199
Abstract: Described embodiments provide a method of cancelling inter-track interference (ITI) from one or more sectors read from a desired track of a storage medium. A read channel reads sectors in a desired track of the storage medium. An iterative decoder of the read channel decodes the read sectors, and if the read sectors are incorrectly recovered from the storage medium, selected sectors of a first adjacent track are read. An ITI canceller of the read channel estimates ITI in the read sectors of the desired track corresponding to the selected sectors of the adjacent track and subtracts the estimated ITI of the adjacent track from the data for the sectors of the desired track, providing updated sector data. The ITI cancelled data is replayed to the iterative decoder, which decodes the ITI cancelled data and provides the decoded ITI cancelled data as output data of the read channel.

  • Patent number: 8478242
Abstract: Systems and methods for an emergency ringing facility able to remotely override a silent mode of a wireless communication device are disclosed. The systems comprise profile-management applications residing on wireless devices and allowing one user of a wireless device to override a silent mode of a remote wireless device. The profile management application executed on the wireless device queries whether the silent mode of the remote wireless device can be overridden, and if so, communicates with a profile-management application executed on the remote device and overrides the silent mode of that device. In an alternative embodiment, a silent mode of a wireless device can be overridden by a profile management server. A profile-management application is executed on a profile-management server communicating with a profile-management application executed on a wireless device and requests the overriding of the silent mode of a remote wireless device.

  • Patent number: 8429191
Abstract: Functionality can be implemented in an operating system to increase the granularity of isolation for objects. A domain can be defined to represent each of different entities (e.g., different departments or work groups). User identifiers and/or user credentials can be associated with the appropriate domain or domains. An administrator can then define a set of rules that govern operation(s) that can be performed on the objects based on the domains. Processes running on a system will inherit the domains of a user account logged into the system. When a process running on the system attempts to perform an operation on an object, an operating system process evaluates the domain isolation rules with an identifier of the object and a domain identifier to determine whether the operation is permitted to proceed.

  • Patent number: 8419401
Abstract: A nozzle head for dispensing sealant within a gap is provided. The nozzle head includes, but is not limited to, a body section and a port connected with the body section. The body section forms a primary channel through which sealant is dispensed. The primary channel forms an entrance through which sealant enters the body section and an exit through which sealant is dispensed from the nozzle. The port is connected with the body section and surrounds the exit. The port forms a chamber having a tip portion opposed to a rear opening. The chamber forms an angled path from the tip portion to the rear opening to trap and guide excess sealant within the chamber to the rear opening.

  • Publication number: 20130070362
Abstract: Described embodiments cancel inter-track interference (ITI) from one or more sectors read from a desired track of a storage medium. A read channel reads one or more sectors in the desired track and generates one or more groups of sample values corresponding to each of the sectors. An ITI canceller estimates an ITI response and an ITI signal for each sample value corresponding to (i) a next adjacent track and (ii) a previous adjacent track. If the estimated ITI response of the previous adjacent track reaches a predetermined threshold, the ITI canceller subtracts the estimated ITI signal corresponding to the previous adjacent track from each associated sample value of the desired track. If the estimated ITI response of the next adjacent track reaches a predetermined threshold, the ITI canceller subtracts the estimated ITI signal corresponding to the next adjacent track from each associated sample value of the desired track.
