  • Patent number: 11797397
Abstract: In one example, a method for writing data includes receiving a write request and performing a first type of logging process in connection with the write request, and creating a corresponding first logging record. Additionally, a second type of logging process is performed in connection with the write request, and a corresponding second logging record created, where the second type of logging process is different from the first type of logging process. Next, a determination is made, as between the two logging records, which of the logging records requires the least amount of non-volatile random access memory (NVRAM), and the logging record that requires the least amount of NVRAM is written to the NVRAM.

  • Patent number: 11768807
Abstract: Destination namespace and file copying: a namespace service receives communication of namespace update for file from file's source. and communicates namespace update for file to an access object service identified for file. The access object service receives communication of fingerprints stream, corresponding to file's segments, from file's source, and identifies sequential fingerprints in fingerprints stream as fingerprints group. The access object service identifies group identifier for fingerprints group, and communicates fingerprints group to a deduplication service associated with group identifier range including group identifier. The deduplication service identifies fingerprints in fingerprints group which are missing from fingerprint storage, and communicates identified fingerprints to the access object service, which communicates request for file's segments, corresponding to identified fingerprints, to file's source.

  • Patent number: 11693743
Abstract: An intelligent method of selecting a data recovery site upon receiving a data recovery request. The backup system collects historical activity data of the storage system to identify work load of every data recovery site. A predicted activity load for each data recovery site is then generated using the collected data. When a request for data recovery is received, the system first identifies which data recovery site has copies of the files to be recovered. Then it uses the predicted work load for these data recovery sites to determine whether to use a geographically local site or a site that may be remote geographically, but has a lower work load.

  • Publication number: 20230172518
Abstract: Some embodiments include processing data via an executable file on a monitor to reduce the dimensionality of the data being transmitted over the wireless network. The output of the executable file also encrypts the data before being transmitted wireless to a remote server. The remote server receives the transmitted data and makes likelihood inferences based on the recorded data.

  • Patent number: 11646995
Abstract: This disclosure describes methods to distribute intrusion detection in a network across multiple devices in the network, such as across routing/switching or other infrastructure devices. For example, as a packet is routed through a network infrastructure, an overlay mechanism may be utilized to indicate which of a total set of intrusion detection rules have been applied to the packet. Each infrastructure device may evaluate which rules have already been applied to the packet, using a result of the evaluation to determine where to route the packet in the network infrastructure for application of additional intrusion detection rules. Additionally, each infrastructure device may record a result of its application of the portion of intrusion detection rules directly into the packet.

  • Patent number: 11632423
Abstract: Embodiments for scaling services in a distributed network by registering bucket names for the services with a Domain Name Service (DNS) server. Buckets hold resources and distribution of buckets to servers is maintained using a Consistent Hashing Ring. Upon determining that services servers need to be added or deleted based on changes load conditions, leave/join events are managed by a Kubernetes event service and updates are propagated to all of the services by the membership service component. A service scaling process updates the mapping of buckets to the host name of the new service server. A resource request from a client is sent to the mapped bucket name, and a DNS resolver process sends it to the changed service server so that the client is completely unaware of this change in bucket ownership.

  • Publication number: 20230109105
Abstract: Source file copying is described. An access object service receives a request to copy a file to a destination and identifies a similarity group identifier for a group of fingerprints corresponding to sequential segments in the file. The access object service communicates a request for the group of fingerprints to a deduplication service associated with a range of similarity group identifiers that include the similarity group identifier. The deduplication service communicates the group of fingerprints, retrieved from fingerprint storage, to the access object service, which communicates the group of fingerprints and the similarity group identifier to the destination.

  • Publication number: 20230093942
Abstract: Techniques are described for providing data such as, for example, keys, connection identifiers, and hashes to network devices using a secure database in order to facilitate client devices remaining connected or reconnecting with network sites when the client device moves among networks and to prevent replay attacks. For example, a method may include receiving, by a network device of a first network, encrypted traffic destined for a network site via the first network from a client device. The method may also include retrieving, by the network device from a database, data related to a previously established connection via a second network of the client device to the network site. In configurations, the data is received by the database from a proxy on the client device. The method may further include based at least in part on the data, passing, by the network device, the encrypted traffic to the network site.

  • Publication number: 20230027688
Abstract: One example method includes receiving data, partitioning the data according to their respective similarity groups, and the similarity groups collectively define a range of similarity groups, deduplicating the data after the partitioning, packing unique data segments remaining after deduplicating into one or more compression regions, compressing the compression regions, and writing an object, that includes the compression regions, to a durable log. The deduplicating and compressing for a similarity group may be performed by a dedup-compression instances uniquely assigned to that similarity group.

  • Publication number: 20230018820
Abstract: A security level tagging process to enable a user to associate a security level descriptor with a file, or a namespace directory where files and subdirectories inherit the security level descriptor from a parent directory. A parser can be used to automatically set a security level descriptor based on the contents of the file and/or attributes of files, or an administrator can associate a security level to a storage tier in the file system so that files are placed on the storage tiers with the matching security level as the file security level descriptor. The placement of the file on a storage tier depends on the data security level descriptor of the file and the security level of the storage so that files are placed on tiers where security level associated with the tier is greater than or equal to data security level of the file. Files can be migrated among storage tiers as their security levels may change.
