Publication number: 20060089909Abstract: A method of conducting cardless and cashless transactions is disclosed. A user, such as from a plurality of students of one or more clients or schools, presents a familiar user ID number and a PIN at a participating merchant. A server receives the user ID and PIN from the merchant and builds a probationary user account number from the user ID, and a client ID associated therewith. The user ID number is padded to a greater number of digits to form the user account number to ensure it is unique amongst many users and clients at the server. Before approving the transaction, the server ascertains whether the user account number and PIN is on record and if so, then further establishes if the user has a sufficient balance in a user sub-ledger account in a source bank account corresponding with the user account number. Periodically, a settlement is made between the source account and various merchant bank accounts.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 31, 2005Publication date: April 27, 2006Applicant: FIRST NATIONAL TECHNOLOGIES INC.Inventors: George McLeod, Dana Woods

Publication number: 20050222476Abstract: The present invention provides a method and apparatus for removing acetylene from a gasoeus mixture comprising hydrogen, methane, ethane, ethylene, acetylene, propane, propylene, butane, butenes, butadiene, and other C4 or higher hydrocarbons. The method of the invention utilizes a front-end acetylene removal unit (“ARU”) located after a charge gas compressor in which acetylene is selectively reduced. The method of the invention achieves selective reduction of acetylene by using a proprietary Chevron Phillips E series palladium based catalyst. The method of the invention also utilizes a novel startup procedure, a novel emergency shutdown procedure, a novel maximum cool down procedure, and a novel carbon monoxide monitoring procedure.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 23, 2005Publication date: October 6, 2005Inventors: James Jordan, Kevin McGuire, Daryl Bitting, George McLeod, Randall Lamirand, James Cerrato, Ronnie Pertuit

Patent number: 6631288Abstract: A skin evaluation apparatus and method for rapidly assessing the degree of erythema of the skin and the skin's response to blanching. The apparatus includes a housing comprising a probe head having an emitter and sensor and a blanching edge. The emitter consists of bundles of optical fibers by means of which light from LEDs is delivered to and recovered from the skin. In use, the probe head is held flush with the skin surface causing the blanching edge to indent a fixed area of skin causing a local blanche. As the probe head is moved, the blanching edge slides along the skin surface evacuating blood as it moves. During the blanche, the LEDs are switched on and the scattered signal collected using a photodiode. A processor measures the attenuation of scattered light and gives a display of blood content against time, providing an indication of the blood circulation in that area.Type: GrantFiled: December 6, 2000Date of Patent: October 7, 2003Assignee: Huntleigh Technology, PLCInventors: Duncan Shirreffs Bain, Martin William Ferguson-Pell, Alastair George Mcleod

Patent number: 6148461Abstract: A low air loss mattress continuously supports a person lying thereon, and includes an upper layer of inflatable cells, and a separate lower layer of inflatable cells. The lower layer of inflatable cells is always maintained at a constant pressure which is higher than the pressure in the upper layer of cells to prevent a person lying on the mattress from contacting the underlying support surface, in particular, when sitting or during transport. Cells forming the upper layer may be inflated at different pressures to provide optimum support to different parts of the body.Type: GrantFiled: August 7, 1998Date of Patent: November 21, 2000Assignee: Huntleigh Technology, PLCInventors: Stephen John Cook, Alastair George McLeod, Rolf Schild
