  • Publication number: 20230040968
Abstract: A tool and associated functionality are described for efficiently obtaining information regarding local goods and services as well as making associated arrangements. The tool includes a system (100) for accessing and using a Wi-Fi hotspot (102). The hotspot (102) allows a user device (104) to access portals (116) of a network (114), such as the Internet, via a gateway (106) of the hotspot (102). The tool then monitors (204) the operation of the user device (104) to identify a condition that indicates a captive portal issue. In response, the tool transmits (208) a trip message to the gateway (106). The user device (104) then receives a challenge from the gateway. Once the challenge has been satisfied, the tool establishes a connection to a network portal (116). The tool may access the portal (116) to download local information such as search results, mapping information, or the like.

  • Publication number: 20070240860
Abstract: A support structure for a compact planar cooling device is presented. The support structure allows the cooling device to be made with a simpler structure than most conventional cooling devices. The cooling device includes a planar casing, a wick layer, and the support structure. The support structure includes a flat plate with a portion cut out to form an opening and a spacer on the flat plate. The spacer is made by bending or folding the cut-out portion of the plate. The spacer enhances coolant circulation inside the cooling device by pushing the wick layer against the inner surface of the casing and maintaining a set distance between the support structure and the casing to allow unimpeded coolant movement. The cooling device can be made cost-effectively without compromising heat transfer efficiency.

  • Publication number: 20050124351
Abstract: The present invention provides a method for establishing direct mobile to mobile communication between cellular mobile terminals. The method includes selecting a frequency designated as a mobile communication frequency within a cellular communication system, and transmitting a communication initiation sequence at the selected frequency by a first mobile terminal. A second mobile terminal then monitors the designated mobile communication frequencies, and detects the communication initiation sequence. In at least one embodiment, selecting a frequency includes determining the region in which the first mobile terminal is operating, and selecting a mobile communication frequency for the determined region. In at least a further embodiment, the mobile communication frequency is a mobile transmission frequency for the determined region.

  • Publication number: 20040011108
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for rolling a metal profile into a metal strip in which method the technique of a profiled rolling in combination with a strip rolling is used, comprising that during the at least two-staged profiled rolling the metal rod is divided into two symmetrical segments. These segments are spread into the lateral regions of the material to be rolled into a flattened profile which is as an object for at least one-staged strip rolling so that the spread ratios between the diameter of the rod and the width of the strip of greater than 2,8:1 are achieved.

  • Publication number: 20040011109
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for producing a metal strip from a cast by rolling in which method the technique of a profiled rolling in combination with a strip rolling is used. The material for the metal strip is first cast by using a casting technique to produce a cast profile having the center part thicker than the lateral parts and the cast profile is in an essentially continuous manner conducted into a rolling mill where during the at least two-staged profiled rolling the cast profile is divided into two symmetrical segments and maintained as two equal segments. These segments are spread into the lateral regions of the material to be rolled into a flattened profile which is as an object for at least one-staged strip rolling so that the spread ratios between the center part dimension of the cast profile and the width of the strip of greater than 2.8:1 are achieved.

  • Patent number: 5819856
Abstract: A lawn edging tool comprises a first post which is hollow and having an open lower end to which a cutting blade is secured. A second post is fitted through the open lower end of and slideably held in the hollow first post The second post has a lower end provided with a ground plate below the first post. A spring is trapped between the upper end of the second post and a spring stop provided within the first post. This spring is compressed by pushing the first post downwardly over the second post with the ground plate in a ground engaging position to move the cutting blade on the first post downwardly from a storage to a cutting position. The spring, after being compressed, then provides a bias to raise the first post relative to the second post and to return the cutting blade to the storage position.

  • Patent number: 5730507
Abstract: A brake lock system is used in a vehicle having a brake line which feeds brake fluid to at least one brake member. The system comprises a brake line fittable housing having at least one fluid inlet and at least one fluid outlet. A flow control which controls the flow of brake fluid from each inlet to each outlet is provided within the housing. The flow control is movable from a first position which allows two way flow between the inlet and the outlet to a second position only allowing one way flow from the inlet to the outlet. Also provided within the housing is an operating member for moving the flow control. A controller which controls the operating member is provided remotely of the housing and a flexible drive shaft connects the controller to the operating member. The use of the flexible drive shaft permits a mounting position for the controller at a location different from that of the housing within the vehicle.
