Patent number: 8033230Abstract: The present invention provides a method and apparatus to improve seed distribution to a plurality of seed or row units of an agricultural planter. Each row unit is fitted with a seed box having an air/seed inlet and an air outlet through which air is allowed to escape. The present invention effectively closes off or substantially reduces the flow of air out of one or more of the seed boxes to reduce the amount of seed that is fed to the seed boxes. Through the use of restrictor plates, which may be vented to allow some air flow or solid to prevent air flow, the delivery of seed to the seed boxes can be equalized to provide more uniform seed distribution to the row units.Type: GrantFiled: December 6, 2010Date of Patent: October 11, 2011Assignee: CNH Canada, Ltd.Inventors: Matthew S. Naylor, George Neufeld

Patent number: 7182146Abstract: A constraint assembly is provided to support a series of hoses associated with operation of an agricultural implement with a telescoping tongue assembly. The telescoping tongue assembly includes at least one telescoping arm configured to move between an extended and a retracted position in telescoping relation to a fixed tongue arm of the agricultural implement. The constraint assembly generally includes a first linkage and a second linkage. The first linkage includes a first end pivotally connected to the fixed tongue arm. The second linkage includes a first end pivotally connected to a second end of the first linkage. A second end of the second linkage is pivotally connected to the telescoping tongue arm of the telescoping tongue assembly. The constraint assembly is configured to take up the slack generated in flexible lines as the telescoping tongue arm moves between the extended and the retracted position.Type: GrantFiled: September 1, 2004Date of Patent: February 27, 2007Assignee: CNH Canada, Ltd.Inventors: Corbin Erickson, George Neufeld, Russell L. Patent number: 6776403Abstract: A hand tool for portably holding a workpiece during drilling or grinding operations is disclosed. The tool comprises first and second locking pliers and a bracing arrangement therebetween. By reason of the bracing arrangement, the tool is able to securely hold the workpiece without loss of grip while torques in excess of that which could be sustained by a single pliers or by two pliers acting independently are applied to the workpiece.Type: GrantFiled: March 31, 2003Date of Patent: August 17, 2004Inventor: George Neufeld

Patent number: 6298797Abstract: A nurse inductor mechanism for an agricultural seeding implement converts an air seeder meter box into a nurse inductor box to convey seed particles to the singulator of a planting mechanism. The nurse inductor mechanism is detachably mounted on the meter box of the air seeder to receive a supply of seed particles therefrom. The nurse induction mechanism intercepts the normal air flow for the metering mechanism to divert the stream of air into engagement with a pile of seed particles and induce the entrainment of the seed particles for conveyance thereof to the remote planting mechanism. A partition wall divides the nurse induction mechanism into a seed side and an air side. The seed side receives the supply of seed particles from the hopper and allows the seed to pass through a passageway into the air side for engagement by the stream of air.Type: GrantFiled: October 4, 1999Date of Patent: October 9, 2001Assignee: Flexi-Coil Ltd.Inventors: Dean J. Mayerle, David R. Hundeby, Ronald N. Engen, George Neufeld

Patent number: 6164222Abstract: A regulator for a nurse inductor mechanism on an agricultural seeding implement controls the rate of entrainment of seeds into the stream of air directed into the nurse inductor mechanism. The regulator includes a pivoted gate mounted at the discharge opening of the seed reservoir of the nurse induction unit to control the flow of seed particles into a pile for engagement with the stream of air directed thereto. An actuation lever, positioned externally of the nurse inductor housing so as to not interfere with the sealed relationship between the divider walls of the distribution apparatus and the housing, is selectively manipulable to move the pivoted gate between closed and opened positions. Once the pivoted gate is moved into the closed position, the flow of seed particles into the distribution apparatus is halted, but the fall flow of air can still move through the distribution apparatus and seed distribution tubes to effect a clean-out of the nurse induction unit.Type: GrantFiled: November 4, 1999Date of Patent: December 26, 2000Assignee: Flexi-Coil Ltd.Inventors: Dean J. Mayerle, David R. Hundeby, Ronald N. Engen, George Neufeld
