    Abstract: A tailgate seat apparatus includes a tailgate frame pivotally mounted to a pickup truck for movement between upright and open configurations. A top surface of the tailgate frame defines a seat recess for supporting a person in a seated position. A seat back is pivotally mounted to an inner edge of the tailgate frame for movement between an upright support configuration and a stowage configuration, the back support being nested in the seat recess at the stowage configuration for conventional tailgate use. Armrests are mounted to a front surface of the back support and may be selectively pivoted into front surface channels. The apparatus includes beverage holders and storage compartments.
