  • Patent number: 6481122
Abstract: A shoe cleat apparatus is provided which includes a receiver and a spike which is configured for swiveling within the receiver. The receiver includes a barrel which has an interior space and a surrounding disc. A neck with a central opening is positioned below the barrel, the opening being smaller in transverse dimension than the interior space. A seat is provided below the neck. The spike includes a shank having a shaft, a tip, a collar positioned between the shaft and the tip, and an enlarged head. The shaft is sized to fit within the opening and the collar to fit within the seat. The head may be pushed through the opening of the receiver to retain the spike on the receiver. The head, shaft and collar are sized respective to the interior space, opening and seat to permit limited swiveling and thus tilting of the spike relative to the receiver.

  • Patent number: 6089866
Abstract: A dental prophy angle which includes a separate rib for securing each of the drive assembly and a workpiece by a friction lock. Preferably this rib is circumferential and present in both the shank end and the head end of the prophy angle. Each rib of the friction lock will permit the workpiece or the drive assembly to pass by the rib and be inserted into the housing. However, the ribs will not permit the inserted workpiece or drive assembly to pass backwards over the rib and be withdrawn from the housing.

  • Patent number: 5496218
Abstract: A coupling for the drive shaft of prophy angles includes an upper drive shaft with a finger-type clutch, and a lower drive shaft having a main drive shaft with a clutch receptacle, and having a drive shaft clamp. The main drive shaft has an expansion slot extending from side to side through the center of the main drive shaft and substantially along the length of the clutch receptacle. The drive shaft clamp also has an expansion slot extending from side to side through the center and substantially along the length of the drive shaft clamp. The drive shaft clamp fits over the clutch receptacle end of the main drive shaft with the expansion slots oriented perpendicular to each other allowing the finger-type clutch of the upper drive shaft assembly to be pressure fitted into the clutch receptacle.

  • Patent number: 5380202
Abstract: A disposable dental prophy cup designed to be coupled with a dental prophy angle for simultaneously cleansing both the surface of teeth and the surrounding tissue and gingival crevice. The dental prophy cup includes a concentric sidewall including a coupling orifice for coupling the prophy cup with the output member of a dental prophy cup, wherein the rotation of the prophy angle output member causes the prophy cup to rotate, and cleansing ribs attached to the outer surface of the sidewall for cleansing the tissue of the gingival crevice of a tooth when the prophy cup is rotated by the prophy angle output member.
