Patent number: 10606301Abstract: One example aspect of the present disclosure relates to a method for receiving input. The method can include receiving, by one or more processors, data indicative of finger placement on a three dimensional knob that is associated with a parameter. The method can include determining, by the one or more processors, a height associated with the data indicative of finger placement. The method can include determining, by the one or more processors, a gain associated with the parameter based on the height. The method can include receiving, by the one or more processors, a signal indicative of an adjustment to the parameter. The method can include causing, by the one or more processors, an adjustment to the parameter based on the determined gain and the signal indicative of an adjustment to the parameter.Type: GrantFiled: June 13, 2018Date of Patent: March 31, 2020Assignee: GE Aviation Systems LimitedInventors: George R. Patent number: 10108189Abstract: Systems and methods for controlling an aerial vehicle are provided. The method includes receiving a first signal from a first input device, wherein the first signal is related to a mode of a flight director. The method includes outputting a parameter on an output device, wherein the parameter is related to the mode. The method includes receiving a second signal from a second input device, wherein the second signal causes the parameter to change to a new parameter. The method includes outputting, by the one or more processors, the new parameter on the output device. The method includes receiving, by the one or more processors, a third signal from a third input device, wherein the aerial vehicle is controlled by the flight director based on the third signal, and wherein the second input device is mechanically coupled to the first input device and the third input device.Type: GrantFiled: July 29, 2016Date of Patent: October 23, 2018Assignee: GE Aviation Systems LLCInventors: Michael Eric Figard, Norman Leonard Ovens, Sharon Ann Green, Jennifer Cooper, So Young Kim, Mark Lawrence Darnell, George R. Patent number: 4011447Abstract: A system for detecting the edges of a moving object is disclosed having a high flux density light beam directed through two relatively long narrow light beam apertures and focused on a detector to saturate the output of the detector. When the moving object interrupts the light beam, the detector remains saturated until the moving object nearly intersects the entire light beam to thereby deactivate the detector at a precisely defined predetermined location within the light beam. The moving object reactivates the detector when its trailing edge intersects the light beam at a second precisely defined location within the light beam. An amplifier operating in saturation mode is coupled to the output of the detector to provide the added feature of switching its output when the object is at very precisely defined locations within the light beam.Type: GrantFiled: February 9, 1976Date of Patent: March 8, 1977Inventor: George R.
