    Abstract: A batting practice device wherein a vertically disposed leaf spring supports a ball securely affixed to its top end. The spring limits movement to a single plane and thereby automatically prevents a batter, standing to one side of the devices, from being struck by the ball or spring upon batting the ball. The use of a leaf spring also provides for a substantial service life.
