  • Patent number: 8061567
Abstract: A dispensing assembly has a ferrule and collar for maintaining a coupling of a dispensing module to a receptacle neck. The ferrule has an annular plastic skirt open on one end, and plastic nibs extending radially inwardly from the skirt inner surface. The skirt outer surface is a regular polygon with flat surfaces between corners. The collar has a Nomar edge defining an annular recess adjacent the open end with an annular face facing the collar other end. At least the corners of the skirt open end extend radially outwardly into the annular recess of the collar inner surface when the dispensing assembly is secured to the receptacle to retain the collar on the ferrule while the dispensing assembly is secured to the receptacle by the ferrule nibs beneath the flange of the receptacle neck. Installation involves pushing the collar and ferrule onto the receptacle neck with the collar in a raised position on the ferrule, and then pushing the collar down relative to the ferrule.

  • Patent number: 6446882
Abstract: The invention is a trigger sprayer comprising a tubular nozzle bushing and a nozzle cap rotatable on the bushing. The nozzle cap has an end wall with a first swirl chamber formed on the rear face thereof offset from the axis. Passages to a second chamber are diametrically opposite the first chamber. Both chambers have orifices directed out the front of the cap. The first orifices is surrounded by a foaming sleeve. The second orifice is positioned forward of the first orifice so that the spray cone emanating from the second orifice does not hit the foaming sleeve. The cap can be rotated to connect liquid from the delivery tube to the swirl chamber for one or the other orifices.

  • Patent number: 6315167
Abstract: Finish has bayonet provisions, each including axial catch portions, stop, rib and detent ridge downward from the distal end of the catch portion. Finish also has ramp provisions, each including axial stop and sloping wedge portion extending down from top of axial stop and sloping at 40° from an imaginary circumferential line at the base of the wedge portion. The stops, detent ridges and wedges all provide tactile notification to user as to where lugs on a cooperant cap are vis-a-vis catch portion and top of finish.

  • Patent number: 6257455
Abstract: A retainer for holding a pump body onto a container is formed with an annular trough having a passage offset from the axis of the retainer and permitting escape of build-up pressure in the container to the outside. The trough has a radial surface in which the passage terminates. An annular laminate layer of gas-permeable/liquid impermeable material is secured to the radial surface covering the passage.

  • Patent number: 6223946
Abstract: A closure for a container-and-closure sealing system embodied in a container and closure package, and method of making the same. The container has an open mouth surrounded by a cylindrical neck wall having internal threads and an open upper edge. The closure is a cap/dispensing cup type and has a skirt with external threads adapted for threaded receipt within the container neck wall. A circumferentially continuous flange projects outwardly from the skirt and has a conical portion adapted for cam engaging, trapping and sealing with the open upper edge of the neck wall as the closure is threaded into this wall. The closure skirt also has a circumferentially continuous plug-type sealing surface that extends radially outwardly from the skirt between the trapping flange and closure external threads adapted for interference sealing engagement with the neck wall as the closure is threaded thereinto.
