  • Patent number: 11954323
Abstract: An electronic device displays a messaging user interface of a messaging application, including a conversation transcript of a messaging session between a user of the electronic device and another user, a message-input area, and a representation corresponding to the other user. In response to detecting a first user input corresponding to the representation of the other user, a menu is displayed that contains an activatable menu item for initiating a payment action with the other user. While displaying the menu, in response to detecting a second user input corresponding to the activatable menu item for initiating a payment action with the first other user, a user interface configured to initiate sending of payment to, and/or requesting payment from, the first other user is displayed.

  • Patent number: 4387255
Abstract: Process for production of ethylene glycol comprising contacting a nonflammable feed comprising ethylene, molecular oxygen and water with a catalyst comprising iodine under reaction conditions in a reaction zone in which there is maintained a partial pressure of ethylene that is effective to yield ethylene glycol without substantial acetaldehyde generation. In a preferred embodiment, ethylene glycol is removed from the reaction zone at a rate effective to minimize formation of condensed glycol by-products.

  • Patent number: 4306100
Abstract: Alkenediols are produced by hydrolysis of a dibromoalkenes in the presence of alkali metal formate. In a preferred embodiment, alkenediols, and particularly 2-butene-1,4-diol, are produced in a series of steps comprising bromination of conjugated diene with cupric bromide, hydrolysis of the resulting dibromobutenes to alkenediols in the presence of alkali metal formate, and regeneration of cupric bromide and alkali metal formate such that only conjugated diene, oxygen and water are consumed.

  • Patent number: 4171761
Abstract: Apparatus is disclosed herein for extending the length of a trailing wave of a double sided laminar wave of solder by the use of a dam in an oil intermix wave soldering system to create a dead zone while still being able to remove oil from the surface of the dead zone area on a continuous basis to prevent contaminants from interfering with soldering operations.

  • Patent number: 4159989
Abstract: Production of ethylene glycol diacylate by reacting ethylene, divalent mercury compound and an aliphatic acid to produce an acyloxyethylmercuric acylate and disproportionating said acyloxyethylmercuric acylate by heating in the presence of a catalytic concentration of perchloric acid to form an ethylene glycol diacylate and lactone. When the acyloxyethylmercuric acylate is acyloxyethylmercuric acetate, the disproportionation produces gamma-butyrolactone as the lactone.

  • Patent number: 3963795
Abstract: A process is disclosed for separating the isomers of xylene from a mixture of C.sub.8 aromatic isomers by the steps of:1. cooling the C.sub.8 aromatic isomers to a temperature of about -65.degree.C to about -90.degree.C to form a slurry of xylene isomer crystals,2. separating the crystals from the crystallization mother-liquor and washing the xylene isomer crystals with an immiscible liquid,3. forming a slurry of the washed xylene crystals with the immiscible liquid,4. warming the slurry to a temperature of about -50.degree.C to about -25.degree.C whereby meta-xylene crystals are melted selectively and the melt is drawn off,5. further warming the slurry to a temperature of about -25.degree.C to about 13.degree.C whereby ortho-xylene crystals are melted selectively and the melt is drawn off, and6. separating the remaining para-xylene from the immiscible liquid. For effective separation of the xylene isomers, the immiscible liquid has a freezing point below about -75.degree.C and a specific gravity at -50.
