Abstract: A method of preparing a polymer under predetermined temperature conditions comprises conducting the polymerization within a closed reaction chamber configured such that most or all of an inner surface has heat exchange capability. The chamber's dimensions are such that the polymerization mixture contacts the effective heat exchange surface sufficiently to ensure that the temperature throughout the polymerization mixture does not vary more than a few degrees from a desired temperature. In one embodiment the chamber is formed of two adjacent, parallel heat exchange plates, wherein at least one plate has a peripheral lip which, in contact with the opposing plate, forms the closed chamber. Multiple plates can be arrayed to form multiple chambers, and each chamber's polymerization temperature, as well as resident polymerization mixture, can be individually predetermined.

Abstract: A method, apparatus, and computer instructions for managing colors in a color table used in displaying graphics. A request is received for a color map. A color map location is set in the color table, wherein the color map location has a starting point. An identification of the starting point for the color map is placed in an entry in a window attribute table. The colors for the color map are loaded into the color table. The starting point of the color map at the color map location is identified using the window attribute table.

Abstract: A method, apparatus, and computer instructions in a data processing system for managing window identifiers for different layers. A request is received to create or change a window, wherein the received request includes a set of attributes. A determination is made in response to this request as to whether a shareable window identifier is present in the layer, wherein the sharable window identifier has correct attributes matching the set of attributes for the window. This determination is made if the request is made to create a window. If a shareable window identifier is absent, a determination is made as to whether a free window identifier is present in the first layer. A determination is made as to whether a free window identifier plane is present in another layer if a free window identifier is absent in the first layer. If a free window identifier plane is present, the free window identifier plane is assigned to the layer for use to create the window.

Abstract: A closure for use closing the fin panel of an associated gable top carton includes a pair of opposing side walls each defining a free end and being connected to one another at an opposing end by a bridge wall. The closure is pivotally mountable to the upstanding fin and extending along at least a portion of the fin panel. The closure is pivotal between a closed position wherein the side walls are urged over the fin panel to engage and compress separable portions of the fin panel together when the dispensing opening is closed, and an open position in which the side walls are pivoted away from the fin panel to disengage the separable portions of the fin panel to open the dispensing opening.

Abstract: An apparatus for feeding a material web includes a four-winged driving reel for intermittently feeding the material web in the forward direction. The four wings include two longer wings and two shorter wings. The distance between the free ends of adjacent wings is substantially equal to the distance between crease lines on the material web.
