  • Patent number: 10794583
Abstract: A Light Emitting Diode (LED) light fixture that provides high illumination such as that found for indoor and outdoor performance lighting. The LED fixture has a LED housing and a power supply housing that are configured to have a space between them when constructed for air flow. LED housing has two sets of cooling fins, a first set with a length from the face of the LED housing to the rear of the LED housing, and a second with a length from the face of the LED housing into a cut-out in the power supply housing. This cooling system provides for an efficient, compact, and esthetically pleasing fixture.

  • Patent number: 8734040
Abstract: A multi-function writing instrument includes a front section having a writing point opening and a rear section having an eraser opening. The rear section and the front section are rotatably connected to each other. A plurality of marking tips are disposed in the front section. One of the marking tips is a pencil lead marking tip. The marking tips are alternately selectable for extension through the writing point opening. An eraser holder is movably disposed in the rear section. An eraser is mounted in the eraser holder. The eraser holder is selectable for extension through the eraser opening. A means for simultaneously propelling the pencil lead marking tip through the writing point opening and the eraser through the eraser opening upon rotation of the front section relative to the rear section is housed in the multi-function writing instrument.

  • Patent number: 8480323
Abstract: An expandable writing instrument has a writing end body section and a rear body section mounted to the writing end body section for relative axial and non-rotational movement between an extended position with the rear body section spaced away from the writing end body section, and a retracted position with the rear body section closer to the writing end body section. A spring in the writing end body section biases the cartridge upwardly. A helix cylinder is mounted for rotation and axial movement in the rear body section with a peg of the rear body section sliding in a track of the helix cylinder. The track is a closed loop with left and right hand helixes so that axial movement of the rear body section causes rotation of the helix cylinder continuously in one rotational direction. A shuttle receives a cartridge body and is mounted for axial movement in the helix cylinder. A shuttle cam on the shuttle is mounted for axial non-rotational movement to the writing end body section.

  • Publication number: 20110103874
Abstract: A pencil mechanism replaces a ballpoint pen refill and has an actuator for containing lead. A point of the mechanism is slidably mounted to the actuator and has a shoulder to engage a step in the pen when an end of the point projects from a writing end of the pen. The point has an open end for projecting the writing tip of the lead and a bushing for frictionally engaging the lead in the point to allow for, but resist axial movement of the lead. A point spring between actuator and point biases them apart and a clutch is slidably mounted to the actuator and point. The clutch has fingers for receiving lead and the actuator engages the clutch to close the fingers and fix the lead. Further forward movement of the actuator projects a writing tip of the lead from the pen as the shoulder engages the step to fix the writing tip in a writing position. The actuator is movable rearwardly for releasing the clutch and the lead and allowing the clutch to move rearwardly in the pen for a repeat of the lead feeding cycle.

  • Patent number: 6105218
Abstract: A fastener comprising first and second separable members, for engaging an elongate element. Each member includes first and second complementary shaped partial-cylindrical portions formed on a facing side thereof. The first and second partial-cylindrical portions of the first member have outside dimensions that are complementarily dimensioned with respect to the inside dimensions of the first and second partial-cylindrical portions of the second member, so that the first and second partial-cylindrical portions of the first member selectively engage and nest within the first and second partial-cylindrical portions of the second member when the facing side of the first and second members are positioned towards each other. The elongate element is engaged between the first and second members of the fastener by an engagement area formed when one of the first and second partial-cylindrical portions are nested.

  • Patent number: 5615970
Abstract: A string trimmer having a knock-down construction which enables the trimmer to be shipped in a partially disassembled condition and quickly assembled by an end user without the need for special tools and without the need for a large plurality of assembly steps. The string trimmer has a handle assembly having a coupling neck protruding therefrom and a base portion having a coupling neck protruding therefrom. An intermediate assembly has a coupling recess at each of its outermost ends which are adapted to snappingly engage with the coupling necks of the handle assembly and base assembly. Once coupled together, conventional threaded screws and nuts can be used to more permanently fasten the handle and base assemblies to the intermediate assembly. The interlocking coupling arrangements provide a high degree of resistance to twisting and bending forces and yet provide for quick and easy assembly of a new string trimmer by an end user with limited mechanical experience.
