  • Publication number: 20050225559
Abstract: A system and method is provided for facilitating navigation techniques in a three-dimensional virtual environment. The present invention couples input driving techniques to the state of one or more workspace variables (e.g., object state, virtual body state, environment state) to change the user's viewing context within a single input control motion. Modification of the user's viewing context allows navigation to various positions and orientations with out the need to be provided with that viewing context prior to navigation. The modification of the user's viewing context also allows for single input motion employing the same input drive controls.

  • Publication number: 20050197905
Abstract: Techniques for presenting new technology at a trade show include sending, to candidate exhibitors for a trade show in an industry, applications to present an exhibit at the trade show as a new technology directed to the industry. Completed applications are received from at least one exhibitor. Experts are determined within the industry who are substantively independent of the exhibitor from whom the completed application is received. Expert reviews are obtained from the experts based on at least a subset of the one or more completed applications. Based on the expert reviews, a particular exhibit is presented at the trade show as a new technology.

  • Publication number: 20050195217
Abstract: According to the present invention, a system for displaying content, such as a computer's displayed desktop, to a user such that remote content may be easily accessed, is presented. An exemplary display system includes a preferred interaction area through which the user interacts with the displayed content. The display system detects a user's reposition action and repositions the displayed content on the display system according to the detected reposition action. A user may reposition any portion of the displayed content to any location within the preferred interaction area. That portion of the displayed content falling outside of the preferred interaction area is displayed according to the available display area outside of the preferred interaction area. The displayed content outside of the preferred interaction area may be scaled according to the available display area. Display areas uncovered by repositioning the displayed content may be displayed with empty space.

  • Publication number: 20050149539
Abstract: The described systems and methods dynamically generate a data polyarchy from information received from a data store (e.g., a directory or database). The data polyarchy represents multiple hierarchies of inter-object relationships based on values of attributes of the objects. These multiple hierarchies are generated and represented in a manner that is independent of object naming and predetermined static hierarchical data structures.

  • Publication number: 20050092203
Abstract: The present invention provides a process for continuous production of pigment flushes and an apparatus for carrying out the process. In the process of the invention, the pigment press cake is first fluidized. The fluidized press cake and a hydrophobic liquid organic medium are fed into a twin screw extruder. The kneading of the organic medium and press cake between the twin screws flushes the pigment into the organic medium. The water phase and flushed pigment phase are separated by removing at least part of the water phase through a vent in the extruder. An impediment to the flow of material downstream of the water vent causes the flush to accumulate in the vented section for a period of time sufficient to remove the desired amount of the water phase. The flush works over the impediment and passes downstream to where vacuum is applied to remove residual water from the flush. The flush may be further combined with other ink ingredients to form an ink product.

  • Publication number: 20050072690
Abstract: Ion exchange membranes for use in sensors that measure dissolved gases are described. Sensors constructed using the disclosed membranes are able to maintain electrolyte conditions within the electrolyte volume so as to have greatly extended and more stable lifetimes than sensors of similar construction and electrolyte volume constructed with standard membranes.

  • Publication number: 20050071354
Abstract: Systems and methods for dynamically generating a schema representing multiple hierarchies of inter-object relationships are described. In one aspect, a polyarchical query language data structure includes first, second, and third data fields. The first data field is used to specify a particular schema for presenting or managing a plurality of objects in a data polyarchy based on values of attributes in the objects. The second data field is to indicate an attribute of interest. The third data field indicates how one or more objects that include the attribute of interest are to be presented or managed with respect to one or more participating dimensions of inter-object relationships based on the schema.

  • Publication number: 20050050477
Abstract: Systems and methods for displaying and managing data in hierarchies and polyarchies of information are described. In one aspect, an object having first and second intersecting hierarchies is specified. The object is illustrated with respect to the first hierarchy. A second intersecting hierarchy selection option is presented to a user to illustrate the object with respect to the second intersecting hierarchy in response to user selection.

  • Publication number: 20050010876
Abstract: The present invention provides a three-dimensional user interface for a computer system that allows a user to combine and store a group of windows as a task. The image of each task can be positioned within a three-dimensional environment such that the user may utilize spatial memory in order remember where a particular task is located. In further embodiments of the invention, the three-dimensional environment includes a stage, which is used to display the task with the current focus. When a user selects a new task in the gallery, the task is moved to the stage and given focus. If a previous task was on the stage, an image of the previous task is captured. This image is then moved into the task gallery away from the stage. This process allows users to switch between multiple window configurations with a simple action.

  • Publication number: 20040247382
Abstract: A tool coupler comprises a coupler frame and an attachment frame. The attachment frame is provided with two hooks that engage two catches located on the coupler frame. The coupler frame is provided with two locking pins and the attachment frame is provided with two receiving apertures, for locking the coupler frame to the attachment frame. Both locking pins are actuated by a double acting hydraulic cylinder. The hydraulic cylinder is slidably mounted on the coupler frame. The hydraulic cylinder is provided with a barrel end having the first locking pin and a piston rod having the second locking pin. The coupler frame and the hydraulic cylinder are provided with limiters which limit the sliding movement the piston rod and the barrel end relative to the coupler frame.

  • Patent number: 5781975
Abstract: A bundling tie having a head at one end, a tail at the other end, and a central strap body therebetween. The head includes a strap ingress face for receiving the strap and a strap egress face from which the inserted strap exits the head. The head further includes a central passageway in communication with the strap ingress face and the strap egress face for receipt of the tail. A metallic locking barb is embedded into a flexible foundation in the head. The flexible foundation is partially defined by a channel around the foundation. The channel provides increased barb rotation upon strap insertion into the head while also providing a stop surface that requires greater barb deflection upon attempt to withdraw the strap from the head.
