    Abstract: An improved tool for applying radial stresses to a tubular splicer to deform the splicer radially inwards about adjacent ends of a pair of aligned reinforcing bars to lock the splicer to the bar ends. A support mechanism is also provided for attachment to a first of the reinforcing bars to support the tool while the radial stresses are created.
