  • Patent number: 6091461
Abstract: A projection display device wherein a modulated laser beam is scanned across a viewing surface by a system of rotating mirrors. A correcting mirror is provided for introducing small variations in the path of the beam. An instantaneous position of the beam on the viewing surface is monitored and a deviation between the actual pattern traversed by the beam and a predetermined scanning pattern is detected. The angular position of the correcting mirror is adjusted to reduce the deviation between the actual scanning pattern and the predetermined scanning pattern.

  • Patent number: 6067127
Abstract: A projection display system using a laser beam reflected from a rotating mirror, where the rotation rate of the mirror is reduced. During a first rotational period the beam is reflected from the rotating mirror toward a fixed mirror, reflected from the fixed mirror back to the rotating mirror and then reflected from the rotating mirror toward a viewing surface. During a second rotational period the beam is reflected from the rotating mirror, toward the fixed mirror, reflected from the fixed mirror toward a second fixed mirror, from the second fixed mirror toward a second face of the rotating mirror, reflected from the second face of the rotating mirror toward a third fixed mirror, and reflected from the third fixed mirror toward the viewing surface.

  • Patent number: 6020937
Abstract: A video display system includes a laser beam that is reflected from a vertical scan rotating mirror, then from a horizontal scan rotating mirror and then toward a viewing surface. The rotational angles of the mirrors and the intensity of the laser are controlled by a controller that is driven by a video signal. Rotation of the horizontal mirror scans the laser beam across the viewing surface while the laser intensity is modulated to form pixels on the viewing surface. The vertical scan mirror then directs the beam to the next horizontal scan line. The resolution and aspect ratio of the image are adjusted by changing the rotation rate of the mirrors and by changing the rate at which the laser is modulated.

  • Patent number: 5986992
Abstract: A data storage cartridge having a display for displaying the storage capacity remaining on the cartridge. The display is driven by a controller and a power cell housed within the cartridge. Electrodes along an edge of the cartridge connect with electrodes within a data storage drive and information regarding the status of the cartridge is transferred to the controller. The controller and display are powered by a rechargeable cell. Current is provided to the electrodes to recharge the cell while the cartridge is in the data storage drive.
