    Abstract: A mobile platform for assessing and modifying pavement surfaces. An emitter generates electromagnetic waves towards a portion of a pavement surface. A condition sensor receives electromagnetic radiation from a first portion of the pavement surface and generates a first electronic signal representative of a current condition of the portion of the pavement surface. A location sensor generates a second electronic signal containing location data corresponding to the first portion of the pavement surface. A computing platform processes the electronic signals and creates a current pavement condition data point. The computing platform may compare the first electronic signal against a reference representative of a target condition, determine if there is a condition variance, and, if a condition variance exceeds a predetermined threshold, generate a condition control signal which is transmitted to and operates to modify operation of the pavement surface modification system in order to reduce the condition variance.

    Abstract: A process and system for calculating drive trajectories for use by connected and autonomous vehicles (CAVs), the data used and/or produced by the system, and a device for use in calculating such drive trajectories. Location data of a pavement segment is obtained and used to calculate a polynomial representation of a drive trajectory that can be used by CAVs to navigate the pavement segment. The process and system may be used, for example, to assist CAVs in navigating areas where the normal vehicle path has been altered, such as a work zone; or under conditions of reduced visibility; or to define areas to be avoided by CAVs, such as a stationary vehicle. The present application is further directed to a process, system, and device for placing and removing markings on or adjacent to pavement segments that may be used to provide data for such use by CAVs.
