  • Patent number: 7032836
Abstract: A sprinkler head includes a base; an elongated stem having an inlet supported within the base; a nozzle and a stream deflector supported within the stem, the nozzle and stream deflector cooperating to define an arcuate orifice; a water distribution plate supported on one end of a shaft extending upwardly from the base, the water distribution plate located in axially spaced relationship to the nozzle and adapted to be impinged by a stream emitted from the nozzle. An externally threaded sleeve is fixed to an opposite end of the shaft; and an elastomeric throttle control member constructed with a smooth through-bore is engaged over the externally threaded sleeve to self-tap along the previously smooth bore. The throttle member is prevented from rotating such that rotation of the shaft causes the throttle control member to move axially relative to a flow restriction portion in the inlet, to thereby adjust flow rate through the stem and the nozzle.

Abstract: A sprinkler head includes a base having a lower and adapted for attachment to a sprinkler system component; an elongated steam supported within the base; a nozzle and a fixed deflector supported within the stem, the nozzle and deflector cooperating to define an adjustable arcuate orifice. A water distribution plate is supported on a shaft extending upwardly from the stem and has a plurality of water distribution grooves located in axially spaced relationship to the nozzle. An arc adjustment ring is rotatably mounted on the base and is operatively connectable with the nozzle for rotating the nozzle relative to the stem for adjustment of the arcuate discharge orifice. A throttle member is secured to the upstream end of the shaft such that rotation of the shaft causes the throttle to move relative to a portion of the stem, to thereby adjust flow rate through the nozzle.

  • Patent number: 5971297
Abstract: A sprinkler includes a sprinkler body having an inlet end and an outlet end, the outlet end having a nozzle with a discharge orifice; the nozzle surrounded by an outer wall forming an annular chamber radially spaced from the discharge orifice. A rotor plate is supported by the sprinkler body for rotation about an axis, the rotor plate having a tubular water distribution passage with an inlet and an outlet, the passage configured to cause the rotor plate to rotate when a stream from the nozzle passes therethrough. The inlet of the passage is axially spaced from the discharge orifice by a distance sufficient to aspirate air into the inlet end of the passage, thereby pulling water leaked into the chamber back into the passage.

  • Patent number: 5671886
Abstract: A rotary sprinkler includes a sprinkler body having a center axis and including a nozzle and associated rotor plate for issuing a stream in a substantially radial direction, substantially perpendicular to the axis, and rotating the stream about the center axis; a stream interrupter mounted loosely for eccentric rotation about the center axis, the stream interrupter including an annular ring provided with a plurality of stream deflector fingers, the stream interrupter being driven directly by the stream impinging on the plurality of stream deflector fingers. The rotor plate is formed with a stream emitting groove configured to receive a vertical stream and redirect the stream in the radial direction while also causing the rotor plate to rotate about the center axis. In addition, the groove is profiled to cause the stream to issue from the rotor plate with a primary component and a secondary component diverging from the primary component.
