    Abstract: A shield is provided for a luminaire or street lamp of the type which includes an open-bottom housing for a light source and a lens-bearing door movably mounted on the housing for closing the bottom thereof and mounting a lens below the light source. The shield is formed of an overlapping pair of substantially rigid but slightly flexible transparent planar panels separated by an air gap, with a first plurality of resilient spacers disposed intermediate the panels and providing the air gap. The shield is easily and rapidly mounted on the bottom of the housing to protect the lens and the light source, with a second plurality of resilient spacers disposed intermediate the door and an adjacent one of said panels and providing an air gap therebetween.
