  • Patent number: 9090116
Abstract: An armored whiteboard device is provided having a strike face with a dry erase markable surface that can be written on and wiped clean, and a protection layer of ballistic material attached to the strike face. The strike face and the ballistic protection layer can be used as a defensive shield to protect against oncoming ballistic projectiles. Handles on one side allow the device to be held in one position for writing upon the markable surface and in another position for protection against penetration by a projectile.

  • Publication number: 20090169855
Abstract: An armor system has a hardened strike panel and a backing panel. The strike panel utilizes common hard materials such as granite, hardened concrete or ceramic tile. The backing panel utilizes reinforcement materials having high strength and stiffness to provide support to the strike panel upon impact of a projectile. A reinforcement product marketed under the trade name Hardwireâ„¢ is used in some embodiments. This reinforcement material has wire strand cords extending through a support layer that may be molded and provides superior strength to weight ratios. The backing panel also may utilize a core material with a reinforcement layer or layers attached to each face in a preferred embodiment. Staples may extend through the layers to provide additional resistance against delamination.

  • Patent number: 7200973
Abstract: A structural reinforcing layer made from wire, a structural reinforcing composite layer made from wire, and the resulting load bearing structures made from or retrofitted with wire reinforced plastics and cements. Said layers and structures made from monofilament metallic or pre-cured composite materials twisted into multi-strand wire geometry optimized to mechanically shear load into rigid thermoplastic, thermoset, metallic or cementious resin systems. Wire geometry, count, size and strength/stiffness can be varied in combination with resin type, sheet structure, permeability and orientation to create layers intended for use in composite and cement based structures as originally molded reinforcement or retrofitted structural upgrades.

  • Patent number: 6601357
Abstract: The present invention concerns an adhesive bonded thermoplastic coating for the underside of a floor that will add significant moisture resistance, wear resistance, transverse crack resistance, and make a better looking, more marketable product. The plastic coated vehicular trailer floor has a plurality of wood planks having a top surface, a bottom surface and a first and second side surfaces, the plank having a width that is less than the lateral width of the floor, each plank being formed by a plurality of boards arranged side-by-side, each board being formed of a plurality of segments joined end-to-end to one another by shaped coupling portions. The planks are arranged side by side such that at least one of the first and second side surfaces faces one of the second or first side surfaces of adjacent planks. Each of the planks has a planar polymer layer formed of an un-reinforced polymer, being bonded to the bottom surface of the planks with an adhesive layer.
