Abstract: A mobile robot can include a first laser scanner and a second laser scanner. The robot position can be compared to a designated area to determine whether the robot is inside the designated area. One of the first laser scanner or the second laser scanner can be selected to use for localization based at least on whether the robot is inside the designated area. A laser scan can be performed using the selected one of the first laser scanner or the second laser scanner to provide laser scan information. The laser scan information can be compared to a mapping of an area around the robot to determine a location of the robot.
