  • Patent number: 5289796
Abstract: The present invention provides a bird feeder with a height adjustment to allow the bird feeder to be lowered for gaining access thereto. A slide member is attached to the bird seed tray which slides up and down a support for lowering the bird feeder into a lowered position and elevating the bird feeder into an elevated position for dispensing bird seed therefrom. A deflector is provided for directing the bird seed onto the tray for dispensing thereof. A spiral shaped wire is placed upon the feeding portion of the tray in order to prevent the birds from kicking out the bird seed from the tray onto the ground. A protective cover covers the bird feeder to protect the bird seed from the weather.

  • Patent number: 5213237
Abstract: A low profile, lock-gate type of valve for handling dry particulate material forms a conduit therethrough, and a pair of curved flow control blades are mounted on arms and are pivoted with respect to the conduit, to define therebetween a flow measuring chamber, in which the blades are supplied with the convex surface facing the direction of flow in the conduit. The conduit is dog-legged within the valve to provide a low valve profile, and the blades are fully enclosed within the blade housing. A part of the enclosure walls form surfaces on which air cylinders are mounted for controlling the movement of the valve blades. The valve blade seals are accessible from an exterior wall of the valve and are replaceable by extraction through wall openings, and the valve seals are mounted on external brackets on the valve side walls so that they may be easily withdrawn and replaced.

  • Patent number: 5139048
Abstract: An enclosed gate valve for handling dry particulate material has a rectangular housing, and a curved flow control blade moves through the housing adjacent a housing inlet. The flow control blade is moved by an air cylinder mounted on an inclined and laterally offset wall of a housing compartment. A direct connection is formed between the piston rod of the air cylinder and the arm means supporting the curved flow control blade so that force from the cylinder is applied directly to the blade along a line of movement which is substantially tangent to the arc of blade movement to provide maximum advantage of the power available from the air motor in both the opening and the closing directions. Embodiments are shown of coupling arrangements for attaching the piston rod of the air motor to the blade arms. An indicator pointer provides a visual indication of the movement of the curved blade.
