Patent number: 11027183Abstract: A climbing structure includes a support frame and a wall assembly. The wall assembly comprises a chain arranged as a loop with an array of climbing panels attached to the chain so as to maintain a configuration that rotates the climbing panels downward as the user climbs to achieve a continuous climbing experience. A lower shaft assembly includes a shaft that rotates based on an angle of the wall assembly. A sprocket is mounted to the shaft such that the shaft and the sprocket rotate independently to maintain tension on the chain as the climbing panels rotate downward. A cable hub assembly is rigidly attached to the shaft and secures a cable that is attached to the support frame. A disc braking system includes a disc rigidly attached to the shaft and a caliper mounted on bearing bolts such that the disc braking system fixes the angle of the wall assembly without affecting the continuous climbing experience.Type: GrantFiled: February 3, 2020Date of Patent: June 8, 2021Assignee: Brewers Ledge Inc.Inventors: George W. Brewer, W. Conant Brewer

Patent number: 9440132Abstract: A rung wall ascender including a support frame and a rung ladder transport mechanism positioned at a variable angle relative to the support frame. The rung ladder transport mechanism includes a chain arranged as a loop with rung ladders attached to the chain so as to maintain a ladder-like configuration that rotates downward as the user climbs so as to achieve a continuous climbing experience. A hydraulic cylinder is positioned between the rung ladder transport mechanism and the support frame that adjusts an angle of the rung ladder transport mechanism with respect to the ground. A control for the hydraulic cylinder is positioned proximate to the user. A braking system regulates the speed of the rung ladder transport mechanism while the user is climbing.Type: GrantFiled: February 10, 2014Date of Patent: September 13, 2016Assignee: Brewer's Ledge Inc.Inventors: George W. Brewer, Garnet Moore, W. Conant Brewer

Patent number: 7572208Abstract: A climbing wall includes a frame with a guiding channel. A plurality of panels slide in the guiding channel and present a climbing surface with protrusions for climbing. The frame includes a section where the plurality of panels pivot out of the guiding channel when loaded with a climber's weight. An actuator is engaged by torque generated when one of the plurality of panels pivots out of the guiding channel. A braking mechanism is coupled to the actuator. The braking mechanism applies an arresting force to the plurality of panels when the actuator is engaged.Type: GrantFiled: July 12, 2007Date of Patent: August 11, 2009Assignee: Brewer's Ledge, Inc.Inventor: George W. Brewer

Patent number: 4858356Abstract: A device for the simultaneous viewing of numerous photographic slides has two rows of periodic ridges spaced parallel to each other. The ridges are shaped so that one can grasp a stack of slides between the thumb and forefinger and spread them along the ridges in a single sweeping motion. In one embodiment, a light source is included in between the ridges.Type: GrantFiled: July 5, 1988Date of Patent: August 22, 1989Inventor: George W. Brewer

Patent number: 4396807Abstract: A microphone mounting device has a shaft emulative of a microphone handle and a structure, for holding the microphone, attached to the shaft. In a preferred embodiment of the invention, the structure includes a ring having a central axis that is attached to the shaft in such a way that the central axis is generally parallel to the longitudinal axis of the shaft. In this embodiment there are disposed around the ring a plurality of elastic loops that releasably hold the microphone in place.Type: GrantFiled: September 4, 1980Date of Patent: August 2, 1983Inventor: George W.
