  • Patent number: 6640278
Abstract: A storage domain management system supports storage domains. The storage server includes a plurality of communication interfaces. A first set of communication interfaces in the plurality is adapted for connection to all kinds of users of data. A second set of communication interfaces in the plurality is adapted for connection to respective devices in a pool of storage devices for use in a storage domain. Data processing resources in the server are coupled to the plurality of communication interfaces for transferring data among the interfaces. The data processing resources comprise a plurality of driver modules and configurable logic linking driver modules into data paths. Each configured data path acts as a virtual circuit that includes a set of driver modules selected from the plurality of driver modules. A data storage transaction which is received at a communication interface is mapped to one of the configured data paths.

  • Publication number: 20020166023
Abstract: A memory system with non-volatile integrated circuit memory devices including an interface for a high speed bus is described, supporting continuous writes at the bus speed, without the possibility of buffer overrun during most conditions. The system comprises an memory bus, an system buffer, an array of non-volatile storage units, such as flash memory devices, and an interconnect system supporting data transfer among the components. The array includes sets and subsets of non-volatile storage units, referred to herein for convenience as platters having multiple banks, banks having multiple columns, and columns having multiple storage units. The storage units comprises integrated circuit memory having page buffers, with input ports. In one example, the array includes two platters, eight banks per platter, four columns per bank, and eight storage units per column, for a total of 256 storage units. • Patent number: 5470332
Abstract: Multiple hair removal system includes an adhesive layer, a structural layer disposed adjacent the adhesive layer, and a conductive material. The conductive material functions to provide power from a power source to hairs to be treated that extend up through the adhesive layer and contact the conductive material. A method of removing multiple hairs and inhibiting future hair growth includes the steps of applying a conductive solution to the skin, pressing on an adhesive layer, applying power for a period of time sufficient to destroy the matrix area of the hair, and allowing the treated hair to either be removed immediately or to stay in the skin for a period of time sufficient for the chemical reaction induced at the matrix area to continue long enough to destroy the matrix area and prevent regrowth of the hair.

  • Patent number: 4871307
Abstract: A system and method for igniting and monitoring a pilot flame for a burning of waste gas, such as the waste gas of an oil refinery or drilling rig, includes a current which is pulsed periodically with pulses of approximately one-second duration of electric power resulting in the outputting of an igniter electrode assembly of typically 6000 volts AC at 20 milliamperes at an alternating current frequency of typically 60 Hz. During the presence of a pilot flame, ionization of gas takes place resulting in a rectification of ignition current. The transformer has a monitoring winding outputting a signal from which a 60 Hz component is filtered out, the remaining signal having a sequence of pulses which varies between positive and negative intervals of the alternating current excitation. Comparison of the pulses provides for an indication of flame absence in the presence of equality of the pulses, and flame presence in the presence of an ineqality of the pulses.
