Abstract: An oral radiation protector appliance for protecting teeth, gingiva, periodontal bone, salivary glands, and adjacent body areas, against harmful side effects of radiation therapy applied to patient areas such as the head, neck, thyroid etc., which involve substantially large or intense radiation treatments. The protector preferably includes intraoral and extraoral members, the intraoral member serving primarily to protect teeth, gingiva, periodontal bone etc., while the extraoral member covers and shields extraoral anatomy and protects such as the parotid, sublingual and salivary glands.
