  • Patent number: 7611413
Abstract: A pinning system includes one or more pinning devices. A first elongated bar wherein one end of the first bar is for handling by an operator. The other end of the bar is for engagement of an individual. A head is located towards the end of the bar for engagement with the individual. In one pinning device, the head includes a hook, and the hook includes an elongated member for attachment to the first bar at a free end. The elongated member and free end are separated by a midsection such that the hook defines a substantially U-shaped member. In a second pinning device, an elongated bar includes a head located towards the end of the second bar for engagement with an individual. A mounting between the head and the end of the second bar permits the head to rotate relative to the bar. The head includes a relatively flat pad, and the pad is for engagement with the body of an individual.

  • Patent number: 7610055
Abstract: A method and apparatus are disclosed that enable the synchronization of user profile information for M users who are sharing K telecommunications terminals, wherein M and K are not necessarily equal to each other. The disclosed technique addresses the problem that occurs when multiple users share multiple terminals, in which a user that selects a particular terminal to use has to contend with the contact lists, user preferences, and call log entries that are left over from the previous user or users of the selected terminal. In accordance with the illustrative embodiment of the present invention, the user profile information is associated with and stored for each user in a group of users, in contrast to being associated with and stored for the telecommunications terminal. The user profile information comprises (i) contact information, (ii) call or message activity, and (iii) user terminal preferences.

  • Publication number: 20090265256
Abstract: The present invention is an Internet wire-mesh merchandising system that comprises a webserver for generating a web presence. Potential customers looking to select and buy wire mesh are allowed to log-on to a website operated by a wire-mesh retailer, distributor, and manufacturer. An HTML product page includes navigation buttons that link to other HTML product pages. Each page further includes JPG or GIF type pictures that allow the shopper to see a particular wire mesh product corresponding to a presently displayed HTML product page. A group of alternate-view buttons link to other pictures of the same product that show variations or different perspectives. A set of four navigation buttons permit the shopper to hyperlink to HTML product pages where the wire mesh is finer, coarser, thinner, and thicker. Once the link is taken, a graphic is presented that corresponds to the selected wire-mesh.

  • Patent number: 7589732
Abstract: The system displays an image portraying a virtual space as viewed by a virtual camera at a first location on a spatially navigable camera surface within the virtual space. A user begins a drag operation. Based on the dragging, the virtual camera is spatially translated from the first location on the spatially navigable region to a second location on the spatially navigable region. The orientation of the virtual camera at the second location may be automatically set to either point towards the pre-defined look-at point or to point in a direction normal to the spatially navigable region at the second location. The system then displays an image portraying the virtual space in accordance with the location and orientation of the virtual camera at the second location in the spatially navigable camera surface. While the drag operation continues, the system determines that further translating the virtual camera would place the virtual camera beyond the spatially navigable region.

  • Patent number: 7583252
Abstract: The present invention is a system that allows a number of 3D volumetric display or output configurations, such as dome, cubical and cylindrical volumetric displays, to interact with a number of different input configurations, such as a three-dimensional position sensing system having a volume sensing field, a planar position sensing system having a digitizing tablet, and a non-planar position sensing system having a sensing grid formed on a dome. The user interacts via the input configurations, such as by moving a digitizing stylus on the sensing grid formed on the dome enclosure surface. This interaction affects the content of the volumetric display by mapping positions and corresponding vectors of the stylus to a moving cursor within the 3D display space of the volumetric display that is offset from a tip of the stylus along the vector.

  • Publication number: 20090185673
Abstract: An apparatus and methods are disclosed for recording calls in a Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP)-based call center. In accordance with the illustrative embodiment, one of a plurality of data-processing systems in the call center is selected for each call to decompress and decrypt the call's media stream(s). The selection criteria include the type of compression algorithm, the type of encryption scheme, the processing capabilities of the data-processing systems, the current processing load of the data-processing systems, and the available communication bandwidth into and out of the data-processing systems. The selected data-processing system is subsequently incorporated into the call path between the calling SIP endpoint and the call center SIP endpoint, if necessary, and for the duration of the call decompresses/decrypts the media stream(s), generates a copy of the decompressed/decrypted stream(s), and transmits the copied stream(s) to a recording device in the call center.

  • Patent number: 7554541
Abstract: The present invention is a system that places 2D user interface widgets in optimal positions in a 3D volumetric display where they can be easily used based on the knowledge user have about traditional 2D display systems. The widgets are placed on a shell or outer edge surface of a volumetric display, in a ring around the outside bottom of the display, in a vertical or horizontal plane within the display and/or responsive to the users focus of attention. Virtual 2D widgets are mapped to volumetric voxels of the 3D display system. This mapping includes any mapping between a 2D representation or virtual display map of the widget to the corresponding voxels. For example, a 2D texture map of the widget image may be mapped into voxels. Control actions in the 3D volume initiated by conventional control devices, such as a mouse or a touch sensitive dome enclosure surface, are mapped to controls of the widgets and appropriate control functions are performed.
