Abstract: The improved process and apparatus of the present invention for extracting high purity aromatics from gasoline using a glycol solvent based extraction process decrease liquid-vapor flashing, reduce reflux flow rate, and use heat of enthalpy produces at one point as a source of energy used at another point, decreasing energy consumption while significantly increasing purity and amount of product obtained.

Abstract: A zero velocity head nozzle for effecting aerated discharge of water is disclosed which produces constant maximized zero velocity aerated water flow from a high pressure source. Two hollow, opposed and non-perforate hemispherical chambers are separated by a discharge gap at an equator separating the opposed hemispherical chambers. High pressure water inflow is introduced at the pole of one hemisphere, impacts the opposite pole of the opposed hemisphere, and thereafter sets up a generally toroidal energy dissipating flow path between the opposed hemispherical sections. At the same time, the underside of the hemisphere opposed to the input defines a convenient aeration input to the energy dissipating toroidal flow path. As a direct consequence, water flowing in the toroidal flow path is visibly entrained with miniature bubbles. Outflow of water intermixed with the bubbles occurs at the discharge gap between the opposed hemispherical sections with only a slight upward flow occurring toward the input.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a method of abstracting heavy metal ions from solution by contacting the solution containing heavy metal ions with a cross-linked vegetable protein, or a mixture of cross-linked vegetable proteins. The method may be used to separate a mixture of heavy metal ions in solution by selectively abstracting a particular heavy metal ion by contacting the particular heavy metal ion with a selected cross-linked vegetable protein.Preferred vegetable proteins are derived from wheat, rape seed, safflower seed, sun-flower seed or soya bean.

The screens are so mounted that when the Jet Catcher is in use with an axis of the catcher parallel to the direction of flow of the jet the angles of the screens to the direction of flow of the undisturbed jet decrease in the downstream direction. The base member is preferably of combined conical/frustoconical or combined pyramidal/frusto-pyramidal form with the apex being, in use, the most upstream point of the base member.
