  • Patent number: 10988488
Abstract: A catalytic process for the metal-free functionalization of sp2-carbons is described herein. The catalytic process is suitable for forming borylated alkenes, arenes and heteroarenes and comprises the use of catalysts comprising a Frustrated Lewis Pair (FLP).
    Type: Grant
    Filed: April 21, 2016
Date of Patent: April 27, 2021
    Assignee: UNIVERSITÉ LAVAL
    Inventors: Frederic-Georges Fontaine, Marc-Andre Legare, Marc-Andre Courtemanche
  • Patent number: 10821429
Abstract: Precatalysts and catalytic processes for the functionalization of sp2-carbons using the precatalysts are described herein. The precatalysts comprise an intramolecular Frustrated Lewis Pair (FLP) that is generated in situ from the corresponding precatalyst fluoroborate salts. The precatalyst fluoroborate salts are deprotected in situ to generate catalysts including intramolecular FLPs for the dehydrogenative borylation of alkenes, arenes and heteroarenes. The catalytic process comprises contacting a precatalyst, a functionalization reagent; and a substrate comprising a sp2-H carbon, under conditions to provide a substrate comprising a functionalized sp2 carbon.

  • Patent number: 10258976
Abstract: Precatalysts of formula I and IV, and processes for the functionalization of SP2-carbons using the same are described herein. The precatalysts comprise a fluoroborate salt protected intramolecular frustrated lewis pair (FLP). The precatalysts are bench stable with improved stability towards moisture and/or air. The precatalysts can be used to generate in situ the corresponding FLP catalyst.

  • Patent number: 9856194
Abstract: Catalysts for the reduction of CO2 are described herein. More specifically, catalysts of Formula I and Formula II: wherein LB is a Lewis base; LA is a Lewis acid; R1 is selected from hydrogen, alkyl, substituted alkyl, cycloalkyl, substituted cycloalkyl, phenyl and substituted phenyl; and R9 and R10 are independently selected from alkyl, substituted alkyl, cycloalkyl, substituted cycloalkyl, phenyl and substituted phenyl; are described. A process for the production of methanol from CO2 using such catalysts is also described.

  • Patent number: 4142618
Abstract: A clutch release bearing having thin-walled inner and outer races. To the inner surface of the inner race is secured a sleeve of resilient material. This sleeve may have a plurality of ribs in contact with the tube guide of the gear box. A single blind annular recess or plurality of substantially axial full length or blind recesses is disposed in the thickness of each sleeve, substantially in the area of each rib. Self-alignment of the release bearing is obtained by deformation of the walls between the ribs and the recesses or by radial compression of the ribs or both. The ribs may be substantially radially inclined and preferably there are at least six such ribs. Alternatively, the sleeve has an inner cylindrical portion, either unitary or axially split, in contact with the tube guide.
