  • Patent number: 4852182
Abstract: A process and device for optical analysis of a geological core taken out from penetrated underground formations. A core is moved step by step with respect to an opto-electronic system which enables successive images of parallel lines of a surface of the core to be obtained by the opto-electronic system with the line images being converted to electric digital signals. The electric digital signals are recorded and data of the recorded signals of images of the core is compared with data from signals of line images of other core surfaces previously recorded, thereby enabling geological characteristics of the penetrated underground formations to be more easily classified.
