    Abstract: The invention pertains to a method for estimating faults in a three-dimensional seismic image block. Directrices are generated within respective first cross-sections of the seismic image block based on points selected by a user. Similarly, generatrices are generated within respective second cross-sections of the block based on points selected by the user. The user inputs relationships between directrices and generatrices. A fault is estimated within the seismic image block as a surface including at least one directric and at least one generatrix having a relationship therebetween.
