  • Publication number: 20250085495
Abstract: An optical module, such as a Quad Small Form Factor (QSFP) or variant thereof, or another type of module, includes a housing; an optical subassembly positioned within the housing at an angle relative to the housing; circuitry connected to the optical subassembly; and heat fins located on and in contact with the housing, wherein the heat fibers are positioned near the optical subassembly. The angling of the optical subassembly supports improved thermal performance, i.e., larger heat fin area at locations due to the angle, and eliminates any bend radius issues on fibers exiting the optical subassembly.

  • Publication number: 20240353634
Abstract: A circuit interconnection structure has a cavity formed through an entire thickness between first and second surfaces. A first integrated circuit is mounted on the first surface. A device carrier comprises a first portion that fits within at least a portion of the cavity. A second portion of the device carrier rigidly connected to the first portion of the device carrier is attached to the first surface. A device positioned within the first portion of the device carrier and mounted to a mounting surface of the device carrier is substantially parallel to the first surface. The device comprises a second integrated circuit. A total thermal expansion of the device carrier between the second portion of the device carrier and the mounting surface is substantially equal to a total thermal expansion of the device between the second integrated circuit and the portion of the device mounted to the mounting surface.

  • Patent number: 11609394
Abstract: An optical transceiver may include a housing including a surface cutout. The surface cutout may be for receiving a locking tang from a cage and for being disengaged by a slide from an unlocking tool wherein the surface cutout is disposed on the housing at a position such that the surface cutout is entirely within the cage with respect to an electromagnetic interference (EMI) gasket of the cage when the optical transceiver is inserted into the cage.

  • Patent number: 10732366
Abstract: An optical interconnect device may include a multi-fiber connector at a first end of the optical interconnect device. The optical interconnect device may include an edge coupled connector at a second end of the optical interconnect device. The optical interconnect device may include a plurality of optical fibers disposed inside the multi-fiber connector and the edge coupled connector to optically couple the multi-fiber connector to the edge coupled connector, wherein the multi-fiber connector and the edge coupled connector rigidly interconnect to structurally support the optical interconnect device.
