Patents by Inventor Georgios K. Paparrizos

Georgios K. Paparrizos has filed for patents to protect the following inventions. This listing includes patent applications that are pending as well as patents that have already been granted by the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).

  • Patent number: 9219372
Abstract: Disclosed is a battery charging circuit having several operating modes include boost and buck mode, and forward and reverse mode. A power train and a current sensing block may share power transistors thus reducing the number of space-consuming power devices in the circuit. The current sensing block may indicate output current based only a sensed input current, and vice versa.

  • Patent number: 9153999
Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention include circuits and methods for sensing resistance. In one embodiment the present invention includes a method comprising detecting a voltage at an input of a regulator received from a power adapter, determining a maximum current capability of the power adapter, and charging a battery coupled to an output of the regulator using said detected voltage and said maximum current as inputs to said regulator. In one embodiment, the detected voltage is used to configure a voltage used to determine if or when a voltage received from a power adapter drops below some threshold.

  • Publication number: 20140278170
Abstract: An initial SoC curve may be defined that relates system state of charge (SoC) as a function of battery SoC. Endpoints that define the SoC curve may be updated. For example, each time a battery SoC is determined, the SoC curve may be updated. The SoC curve may then be evaluated to produce a system SoC that can be present to the user.

  • Publication number: 20140266228
Abstract: A circuit for measuring the equivalent series resistance (ESR) of a battery includes taking measurements of battery current and battery voltage. A controller may control the taking of the measurements. A load generator may be activated to produce a current pulse to the battery to provide an explicit current transient under certain operating conditions of the battery.

  • Patent number: 8745301
Abstract: Circuitry in a portable device may be attached to external device, such as a power supply, to receive a voltage at a desired voltage level from the external device. The circuitry may assert one of several electrical configurations on the cabling that electrically connects the portable device to the external device to indicate to the external device a desired voltage level.
